I think your exactly right Money.

Hence the back and forth nature of the game. Where nearly each rush up ice, produces a great scoring chance. Off-line anyway.

I wish the hardcore setting would be the place to go in the NHL game, to get the type of gameplay a lot of us would like to see. Where really great scoring chances where tough to get, and that alone was rewarding. Let alone the excitement of burying one.

I do believe the game does a solid job with this balancing act is has to do. And I really enjoy it. But yeah...it would be great if there somehow was a setting of some type, to deliver an ultra realistic game style.

I wonder how this relates to the newest update...

Above posters are on the spot. Realism doesn't sell. However I flag also for the idea that you could choose to play "hardcore" to get the best possible simulation of hockey. However, I think the most hardest part of hockey to simulate is its randomness. Quite a lot happenings on ice start from some strange event and what follows is a sum of how players react. I believe that if they coded that amount randomness in game most of us would feel cheated etc...

At the moment I think that NHL10 delivers the best way for the gamers to adjust game to ones likings and that's something devs should be proud of. Because one size doesn't fit all.

To add to the conversation, I like the idea of having realistic hockey with realistic defense, but we would probably have to play 20 min periods just like the real NHL to see accurate goal totals.

Yep, that would most likely be the hangup about TRULY realistic gameplay. I don't think you could expect truly realistic play/results/stats, and play with 5-10 minute periods. If we're talking about near absolutes, it would have to be one or the other imo.

For myself...I'm not too sure I'd choose to play 20 minute periods, along with an 82 game season...plus playoffs. Now if we were given the choice of say a 41 game season, then ya...I'd be very interested.

In my little dream world, you'd have a "Simulation slider". That would regulate the aggression towards the puck of the AI controlled players, User/Cpu. And the option of season length to correspond with the sim slider. Just a thought.

The tuner is saved inside the NHL PROFILE FILE. You can copy the profile from someone with tuner 1.03 to your HDD NHL SAVE FOLDER and load it, than you save the profile over yours and youŽll have tuner 1.03 installed.

I made it for tuner 1.02 and worked fine.

To install the tuner is very easy. Copy the profile file ahead to the NHL SAVE FOLDER on your HDD. Than starts the game and go to: My NHL10/Load/Profile and load the profile file ahead. After that save the profile over yours and youŽll have tuner 1.03 installed!

FWIW, I'm playing 15 minute periods with real-time penalty length right now and getting just about spot-on stats.
