In regards to a "custom camera" for home runs, the only thing I'd add is that it would also activate during any deep hit ball. That way there is some suspense on whether or not the ball is going out of the park. Part of the fun of watching a home is yelling "Holy Moses, is it? C'mon, get out...get out of here...gone!!!

See, as for gameplay, I would much prefer nothing but a broadcast camera angle (that is, right behind the plate). Broadcast for a ground ball, pop up, home run, you name it. If it's a no-doubter, though, that would be cool if the broadcast camera guy focused on the ball and gave little attention to the fielders, kind of like in the replays from 09 (only not continually zooming in so close like they do). If they had that for Home Run Derby, all would be honky-dory and smooth-sailing on my end of the connection.

EDIT: Oh, and looking at the video you posted, one thing I absolutely hated about ASB 2005 is they decided to enlarge the ball to more easily see it when it flies in the air. My favorite of the games was ASB 2003, but it had an issue of not too many balls being hit to right field, mostly to left field. ASB 2005 was also the only one that had the big "HOME RUN" thing as well, which I never liked.

That's a reasonable option. Better than it staying on the whole time. Options are always better than no options.

LOL...I wasn't challenging your idea of having homeruns be more suspenseful, I was caught off guard, confused, by you stating that you felt that homeruns weren't dramatic and then offered up a homerun camera as a solution. I know you're seeking a long strung out debate(by challenging anyone) about this idea, but not everyone is out to "disagree"/"debate" your opinions.

Yeah, no. Those camera views during a "borderline homerun" wouldn't allow controlling the fielder well at all.

And that's not suspenseful.

Forget all this subjectivity here and copy the angles used in the real home-run derby, including the slight delay in camera angle transition from batter to ball-flight.
