Are the constant holding calls on field goals being fixed?

Re: Madden NFL 10 Q&A Blog with the Dev Team

my question is this.. is the gameplay gonna actually get a patch because im tired of having my receivers wide opened and a defender who was beat downfield all of a sudden pick off the pass when it should of been a big gain through the air. also im tired of seeing a Defensive End stand around the QB pocket waiting for him to throw the ball jump 5 to 6 feet in the air and get picked off.. also the clock doesnt stop once u throw the ball away... too many holding calls specially on fgs or pats... injuries need to get fixed Warner broke his pinky finger they brought the cart out and was out for the season ... WTF!!?! the CPU goes into there "super offense" once its less than 2:00 in either 2nd or 4th quarter... Roster space needs to be increased for preseason until u advance into the regular season like in REAL football ... there should be a practice squad and rookie camp ... all i want madden 10 is to be like REAL NFL style gameplay and features ... so either someone from EA is stupid and doesnt watch football or Ian is just a crappy designer and all i want is a game that doesnt screw u over! im just half way tempted to trade in madden 10 and say the hell with EA sports... and bring back 2k football reason y u gained rights is u were afraid they would put u out of business... cuz they were better than u so quit foolin around with QA blogs and work on these damn glitches/gameplay flaws!!!

Can anything be done about:

1. The INCREDIBLE amount of time the CPU's have in the pocket?

2. The issue with QB's getting off passes when clearly it should've been a sack?

Will this be patched?
possibly the biggest gripe for me

Where does the strength rating, along with a player's weight, come into play in the OL/DL programming code?

Is there a way to adjust how those ratings are used when the patch comes out?

Why do my running back disappear from the game? I cant sub him in or anything I think it has something to do with the auto sub feature cause as soon as I changed that my running back just disappeared I could not use my 1st string running back.

Re: Madden NFL 10 Q&A Blog with the Dev Team

In my opinion, (and not to take away from all the gripes being mentioned here), but for Madden 11, I believe 90% of effort should be totally placed on A.I. for all QB's.

After so many games in EA's Madden games, the qb's start to feel robotic/the same. Yes, we see accuracy variances, etc...but all in all, I think every single QB should have an incredibly HIGHER animation set (running/scrambling, bootlegging, panicking in pocket, Big Ben's Back Yard Football Style, etc). Analyze with full force ALL starting QB's in real life, and concentrate on doing your best to "zero-in" on what makes each QB unique.

"Out of the Box" Madden 10, default settings, and first game with the Patriots (CPU controlled/cpu vs cpu game) Tom Brady throws 5 picks. I mean c'mon. Arguably the best QB ever to breathe air on the planet, and someone's first experience with Madden 10, and on default settings, he throws 5 picks? Wow.

I've given this a ton of thought, and i'm convinced, that if QB A.I. was massively upgraded (animation sets, behaviors that closely mimic real-life counterparts, scrambling logic, completion percentage realism (I'm an advocate of actually programming in the completion percentage of all starting QB's in the game so that each QB throws that exact percentage IN-GAME TO MATCH THAT OF REAL LIFE.) Ben Roethlisberger threw a 59% percentage last year, so by god in MADDEN, after a whole season I would advocate him throwing a 59%. (cpu vs cpu games).

At the studio, someone needs to do "testing" on NOT just HUMAN VS CPU, but CPU VS CPU. I fully believe that there is minimal at best TESTING being done cpu vs cpu in MADDEN. This is not good. I discovered unrealistic behaviors after watching just one week of cpu vs cpu games in Madden 10. (i hate to make concrete conclusions prematurely, so i give it a whole week's worth of games).

Ideally, EVERY game should feel dynamic & alive...oozing with unpredictability in terms of how the USER is feeling as he/she is playing/watching. And I believe a huge step in this direction is concentrating firstly on the QB's PLAY. It is essential (in my view) that QB's come across as more HUMAN in their movements, logic, decision-making, etc and NOT come across as robotic. I feel they are way too robotic, even in Madden 10.

All the other teams in the franchise are racking up injuries by the second, and here I am feeling guilty that my team has been injury free for over 25 games (pre-season and playoffs included). What's the problem with human injuries in franchise mode?
*I would like to update my question/post.

Since my post I have played two games in my Franchise with the injury slider at 63 and the fatigue slider at 59. The masochist in me is happy with the results.

In one game I suffered an injury of 3-weeks to Percy Harvin, as well as two minor miss a play/drive injuries. In my next game Chester Taylor suffered a 10-week injury, Pat Williams missed 2-quarters, and both teams suffered a couple minor miss a play/drive injuries.

Good stuff.
