I don't have friends online. I am mostly Offline player. I think I have 2 friends on both systems.

Developers nowadays forget that Pro is a step up from beginner. I used to be able to go undefeated on the highest difficulty on PC NHL series up until 06 or 07 when I switched to PS3. Pro should not be this difficult.

Littman mentioned it was improved this year but I don't see much of an improvement. They still stand around doing absolutely nothing in the offensive zone and rarely will try to make themselves available for a pass. The end result is that it's extremely difficult to get scoring chances aside from passing it to the point and getting a shot on goal which gets repetitive. The offensive AI is also awful when it comes to getting open for passes during breakouts, often taking bizzare paths or skating right behind their own teammate for some unknown reason.

The offensive AI is pretty good when it comes to BAP, but suffers badly in regular versus. It needs a major overhaul in NHL11.
I couldn't disagree with the two of you any more...

The lack of teammate offensive AI is the very reason why I got rid of NHL 09 last year and worried like hell that they wouldn't address it. The NHL 10 demo has shown me that not only have they addressed it, but it is actually pretty damn good.

PRO is too hard??? Maybe thats where the real problem is. You need to maybe learn how to initiate a cycle. Take your time and experiment with the puck in the offensive zone...your team mates will work with you...

or I'd be right there bitchin with ya.

Then you and your buddy need to start a new thread: "The guys in the Impressions Thread who say the demo is unchanged are big fat liars and stupid dopes!!!!!" This thread is for demo impressions, not calling out people who happen to have a different opinion of the game than you two.

Having a different opinion is one thing, posting flat out bs then saying oh its just my opinion is something completely different. Its like complaining that the game has comeback logic when behind if late in the game and the user is still trying to make tape to tape passes out of the defensive end and turning it over to the cpu's agressive forecheckers, rather than using hockey sense and using smart clears and dumps.

scottdau was posting in some other thread and had no idea what online teamplay or the eashl was despite the fact it's been the main selling feature for 2 years. you decide if his opinion is qualified.

I'm playing on all-star, I have no problems with pro. Anyways, it's not that the offensive AI never cycles, but the first problem is that they never cycle when you aren't moving, so if the defense cuts off your passing lanes and they're pressuring you the offensive AI won't try to get open. The other problem is that when they do cycle, there's not much of a point to it other than to get a point shot. Regardless of the strategies the offensive AI will rarely ever get open for a good scoring opportunity such as a one timer from the slot. I'm not saying it's impossible to score because it isn't, but it's clear that the defensive AI is much more sophisticated than the offensive AI.

Again, this isn't really an issue in BAP as much because you can control the pace more by doing things without the puck such as finding open space. When you're always controlling players who have the puck you have to rely on them to help you without the puck and they don't do an adequate job, even if it is an improvement from 09. At least in 09 you could skate around and stickhandle to create scoring chances, but in 10 you'll get tired out easily doing that and you have to completely avoid the boards or you'll get sucked in by a defender. That's another issue, you don't get enough help during boardplay most of the time.

Then of course there's the computer offense that can endlessly cycle it seems like. It's impossible to poke check them because they have this amazing ability to keep the puck away despite never using the protect puck feature or the skill stick. It's really something to behold.

I don't play online. So what is your question? I think it is cool, but I just have time to play online. Never said did. The guy asked why I buy all 4 games. Because I like to find out which on I like better and then once I do I give the other 2 away. Mostly to my one friend. He was the pne that mention about buy the one you have more friends with, not me.
