Just my take.
I was going to keep my mouth shut until I saw this post.

Out of curiosity....how? Another year of a bad game?

I will start by prefacing this. Sales figures obviously dictate how good the game. If it is a good game then people will buy. If it is a bad game people won't. The sales numbers have been down for several years down and have declined each year for at least 4 years.

The consumer isn't dumb and sales numbers say it all. Despite you liking the game, the community is speaking and is now speaking louder than ever. The problem is that the developers or whoever is making the decisions aren't listening. Fluff is added to the game rather than working on things that are important. A new car company doesn't come out with a design for a car until they have developed a good engine to go in it. They develop the engine and add the accessories around it. Look under the hood of NCAA and you have a bad engine and with too many accessories that have resulted in one of the worst sports franchises in video gaming history over the past 5 years. In fact, the past two year EA has shipped the consumer a broken game. Had EA been in another industry other than software, their bleeps would have been sued had they not given refunds.

Getting back on topic, the developers that come here certainly aren't listening. People have asked for Dreads, Player Formation, Better Gameplay, Better OL/DL Interaction, Better Line Splits, etc. etc. What do we get? Team Builder (something that the masses don't care about), Season Showdown (No One Asked for this), Game Planning (one of the dumbest and most tedious additions on any NCAA series other than Mascot Games), and another year of a bad game because they have failed to listen.

At that, you are getting a BROKEN GAME. If they have to do patches before the game hits the shelf, it is broken. You are a Beta Tester. The service of this site is just as or more important to them than they are for OS. They are getting a free testing service. They get free feedback. Yet, we the consumer are still not being listened too.

So tell me, how is it paying dividends for anyone here?

Time to fight back.

Great! Put the $60 back in your pocket.

And if you really think the "masses" don't care about CAS (i.e. TeamBuilder), you haven't been around for very long. I've seen that asked a thousand times as much as "better line splits".

Team Builder is in the minority. It doesn't mean that it wasn't important and don't intend for my statement to be interpreted that way. There are several more important features (Gameplay, OL/DL interaction) that more people want than Team Builder. Team Builder is an accessory and means little to nothing when the game is still broken. I am glad you got your Team Builder Feature. Meanwhile, there are still a ton of people out there will never touch this feature. Fix features and add features that EVERYONE will touch first, ie: broken gameplay because it is still bad.

I won't touch it, either. But just because I won't touch it, I'm not going to pretend that it wasn't a HUGE request from the community. And they did improve (or attempt to improve) the gameplay. Whether you think game planning is dumb or not, it was an attempt to add more strategy to the game. Adaptive AI, fixing major bugs (but not quite all of them yet) with the gameplay from a year ago.

To say they completely abandoned the gameplay is ridiculous. Whether you think they failed in their efforts is one thing, but to even start to claim that they don't care about gameplay, in my mind, is absurd.

Yes I wanted CAS, but I also want to take that school and have fun using them in a game where the sliders work, there is OL/DL interaction, QBs aren't automatic, etc, etc.

I don't care about making an awesome looking uniform only to have the pure aesthetic value of it, I want to have fun playing the game, and sadly that's something I haven't had in this series for the last 3-4 games...

I don't know. It seems like we're in pretty much the same spot we were in last year when a flawed and buggy game was going to require a major patch after release. I expected last year's fiasco to help persuade EA to right the ship, but I don't see it happening.

While I agree with Pared that we shouldn't be making anyone a "whipping boy," I think it is important to make it very clear that the quality control problems this series has experienced over the past few years is simply not acceptable. The best way to do that is to not buy the game. I'm willing to bet, though, that most of those screaming the loudest about this being a broken game will end up buying it.
