Re: NCAA Football 10 Demo Now Available, Post Your Impressions Here

The gameplanning and defensive keys are very welcomed additions. Twice last night in the last game that I played, I got to Bradford in under 4 secs by setting the defensive key to pass, telling the D-Line to jump the snap, and then jumping the snap by pulling the r-stick down.

No its not the ideal situation, but its better than last year in that regard.

If they can make it so the pass rush is more natural and less of having to "force" it to happen, this game is golden.

Downloaded the PS3 demo. I don't know if this is because we are playing a demo but the graphics don't look so hot anymore compare to 09, What the hell happen?

However, I did have fun playing it!..The funfactor is there. Had a good game that went to overtime and I won!

I hope there is still time to clean-up the rough edges on the graphics, other then that, this is a fun football game!

peace

I like the game overall but I have the same problem as every year. TOO MANY INTERCEPTIONS and I don't mean against me. The computer threw 4 interceptions in a very brief demo on All American in 1 game and 3 interceptions in another. Incidentally I am not playing on the ball so this is CPU defense vs CPU offense.

Good:

+Not seeing the jaggies people are talking about (XBOX 360) looks fine to me overall, just the night grass still looks like crap.

+Depth of field really makes a big difference.

+Like the spotlighting of the scoring player.

+Love the passing feel. Not quite as tight as Madden's will be this year, but it's certainly been worked on.

+Player lock is actually a lot better than I thought... Could use some work on how the angles finish at the end of the play, and it would be nice to get adjustable angles, too.

+The new tackle animations are cool.

+The CPU rushed me lots of times. So the pass rush wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, still needs some work though...

The Bad:

-... because often times the CPU has all day to throw. Now I got some sacks, but there were times when the pocket was unbreakable and the QB just stood there for like 15 seconds surveying the field.

-I hate the fact that you have to player lock on every play when you want to use it. They really need to make this a setting where when the setting is on you can choose who you want on-the-fly.

-Post-play camera's a mixed bag. Sometimes you get a good one, and other times you get one where the player isn't even centered in the shot, lol. What the heck happened there?

-Lots of leg and head twitching while walking during post-play animations. Same as 09, and it looks very weird.

The gameplanning, keys do seem to work, like country boy said.

On one drive, I set my defensive gameplan to aggressive, keyed pass on 2nd and long as well as 3rd down, and both times Carlos Dunlap ogt into Bradford's mug.

Shedding blocks with the right stick didnt feel too fluid to me in the 1 game that I played, and it took me a little bit to notice that moving it down was causing me to jump the snap.

I'll need to get more reps with it before I can tell whether or not I am able to effectively break blocks with my DL manually.

Re: NCAA Football 10 Demo Now Available, Post Your Impressions Here

Well after a day with the demo I'm starting to sour on it.

Gameplay overall is tighter, but somehow lifeless. The new camera makes everything that's happening on the field feel distant and far away. I feel like I'm not involved in the action as much as I was in 08 and 09.

Players feel less responsive and explosive than they did in 09, especially since we can't shimmy and shake with the left stick anymore. (Note to the dev team: Cutting out the L-stick dekes and jukes was a dumb idea that no one asked for.)

I feel like I have less control over the ballcarrier. Back jukes in particular seems unresponsive; sometimes I back-juke and my ballcarrier does nothing.

Same thing on D. I find the right stick unreliable for swim moves, spin, bull rush, etc. It feels like my player isn't doing what I want him to do.

Maybe it's because Florida and OU are so evenly matched, but I find the game feels a bit stiff. I'm hardly breaking any tackles and I can't make anyone miss. Maybe my stick skills are rusty.

Also: I know to some extent it's a glitch, but it seems like there are far fewer tackle animations this year. I hope the final build has a lot more tackles, because I'll get sick of the same three animations in hurry.

Must play more ...
