Re: NCAA Football 10 Demo Now Available, Post Your Impressions Here

While after playing another game with very little pressure from the d-lines I decided to do a test on Heisman. I picked OU and on every single play I dropped back, stood there and waited to see how long it was before I got sacked. I dropped back 14 times and the average was 10 seconds. Their were some pretty ridiculous ones as well. A 15, 16 and a 17. The lowest one was 4 seconds but every other one was 8 or above.

The thing is just sitting and watching showed that the suction blocking is still alive and well. Literally in some of the plays the d-linemen went around in circles around the qb unable to break free at all.

The o-line vs d-line interaction is flat out busted. It needs a major overhaul. People better pray for some of the most effective sliders ever to bandage this.

Doesn't help either how the CPU QB seems to have the mentally of throw the ball regardless of if somebody is open when anybody gets remotely close to them.

Also now the other people have mentioned the graphics do look worse than last year.

Wow. After playing both versions, the PS3 one looks absolutely terrible.

Re: NCAA Football 10 Demo Now Available, Post Your Impressions Here

Call me a ***** or whatever but i speak the truth!

To ME i have a problem with the following
well im not very impressed with the graphics at all the crowd looks worse this year than it did in 09, not to mention the players look like they are floating on grass once again and builds look like im playing in SD instead of HD i heard the chant of MVP when tebow was on the field am i playing madden or did they get rid of the heismen in college football? i hope they have last years camera angle because this one is way to high for me when you are returning the kick it feels like your guy has 50 speed and the defenders have 99, every sack i have seen for far is the same animation of getting 1 arm tackled dragged to the ground, O linemen still stand in one spot and dont move with you and dont they have a horse collar penalty in college this year? i have seen it like ever other tackle along with the shoe string

Really only thing i like is that you can tell your players how to play agressive etc and the player lock camera but how do i pump up the crowd?

But after the demo, there are some good and bad things about it.

THE BAD:

1) Ive noticed that unless youre right up on the image, the graphics from a far in this game are absolutely horrible. They are about on the level as a PS2 game. HAs anyone else noticed this???? From a far, Floridas numbers on the back of the jerseys are blurred and you cant really focus on the color. And anything far away is just plain terrible for a next gen game. Never noticed this, but till look when I play tomorrow

2) Theres that glitch where the center snaps the ball over the QBs head like 20 yards. And its ruled incomplete. Thats awful. Happened to me too

3) The camera style is going to take some getting use to. Its ok I guess. I don't really like it, anyone know if we can change it to the classic cam in the retail version?

4) I saw the same tackle over a over. That new tackle looks like something off of blitz. Yep

5) The player models and their movement has moved towards the same style that NBA live and NCAA basketball are like. Which is a complete step in the wrong direction. Seeing as how both of those titles arent worth the disc they are burned on. Haven't played either so can't say

6) The playcall menus are still slow and a little irresponsive. Definitely. More times than not I would press the button to select my play and it wouldn't take so I'd have to press it again. Also moving from play to play and between pages was lagging quite a bit

7) The crowd chants audio is terrible. I noticed this too. Doesn't really sound like it's coming from the crowd, but from something else

8) I think speed will still kill. I still saw some AI defenses taking bad angles. Same. I was playing on AA so maybe it would be different on Heisman.

THE GOOD

1) Mixin and matching of jersys is good. I also like the new stances and bowl endzones. Liked this

2) There were a lot of new animations. Liked these except for the frequency of the above mentioned NFL Blitz like tackle

And there were some more good things. I didnt like how the defense played at all. It seems like I couldnt control anyone and OU WRs were wide open by 10 or 15 yards on every play. Never really had trouble in this area. Got a few INTs. Still trying to get used to the new buttons as they've moved a bunch of stuff around.

The demo kind of dissapointed me. But its still going to be a great game, despite the early roster issues. The only thing that worries me is what other glitches will we come upon on down the road.

The NCAA dev team needs to focus more on getting everything currently in the game right, and worry about new features later. I guess everyone will have to keep saying this until they are blue in the face.
Your thoughts on the demo reflect mine as well. I commented beside some above. Overall I enjoyed it and think the retail version will be just as fun but there are some glaring issues that need to be addressed. My two biggest annoyances are the camera angle and the lagging in the play call screen.

Re: NCAA Football 10 Demo Now Available, Post Your Impressions Here

After playing a few games of the demo (on HEISMAN), I think that this game needs some serious tweaking via real WORKING sliders or a patch. The main issues that I think need to be addressed are still the (1) THE PASS RUSH - On the defensive side of the ball, I am not seeing a very good pass rush for either CPU or USER. This leads to (2) THE QB PLAY - Although I have seen a couple of bad passes (more than in '09), they are still few and far between. The QB for CPU and USER simply has way too much time to throw. USER Passing on default HEISMAN is too easy. I feel like I have all day to throw. My completion % must be in the 85-90's for every game. (3) THE CPU RUNNING GAME - Not so good still. They try to run and do call running plays to mix it up... it just doesn't really work well. I think the most important thing is to have (4) REAL WORKING SLIDERS - for those who haven't heard, sliders are not working properly AGAIN out of the box so we'll have to wait for a patch AGAIN.

I think if sliders actually worked properly (for example: Moving the PASS BLOCK slider to 0 and BREAK BLOCK slider to 100 actually meant terror in the backfield on every play... or having the QB ACC slider actually affect the QB's accuracy), than this game would have the potential to be pretty good. As it stands, I will be one of the many long time fans of the NCAA series that is gonna say, "enough is enough" and sadly pass on this year's game.
