Right now the only thing that Links 2004 still has over Tiger Woods 10 is its rhythm governed swing... however, that's a big thing.

I can make my stick movement match the swing of my golfer in Tiger Woods 10, but I'm not punished when I get quick with the stick. I like the way it feels when I've stayed in synch with the golfer during the backswing and foreswing because there is a hint of inertia to the animation.

Overall though, I find the shotmaking, particularly the short game (pitching chipping and putting) to be more versitile than Links 2004. This pretty much negates the natural tempo edge that Links 2004 has over it.

I'll say this much; I've had Tiger Woods 10 for 5 days now, and I can already say that I'm more addicted to it than any game I've owned since NCAA Football 2004 on the PS2. I can't pass by the Living Room without doing something with it. I'm way off schedule on my chore list because of it I was six months late to the Links 2004 party (it's the game that drove me to buy an XBox, as a matter of fact!), and although I was hooked on it... it just didn't have the incredible sense of connectedness and play options Tiger 10 has.

I also think that the Wii version will have an even bigger pull on me than the 360 version. A thumbstick motion is such a scaled down way to simulate a golf swing. The Wii Motion Plus, even though it doesn't track swing path, has way more potential to make your senses feel involved in the game. I can't wait until I can afford the Wii in August. I think it will have enough of a relational and active interface that my wife will want to play it. She absolutely hates controllers, as we know them.
I went and got the game before I saw your post, based off your other impressions and many others positive impressions. I only played a quick round with Tiger and didn't get a chance to do much with settings besides putting it on Tour mode and I can already tell that it will give me a challenge. While I am sure I can make the fairways be hit 90% of time without tuning anything, I can tell that the stick is more sensitive than Links. I also LOVED the presentation camera angles that replace the ball cam!!! Looking forward to digging into this game

Also I played the Wii version at my friend's house, before I bought the ps3 version. MAN I wish I had a Wii. Was incredible playing and I didn't think the graphics were bad at all. Seemed pretty close to Links and I always thought they were decent graphics for how old the game is. But the simulation side of the Wii is very impressive and I hope to one day get a Wii if only for this game alone. Of course if I don't get a Wii by next summer, maybe next year's ps3 version will incorporate the new motion controller and then I wouldn't have to buy a Wii!

Anyway, thank you guys for all the impressions. Definitely helped me make up my mind and so far it seems like a good decision.

I have a quick question about TW 10. The part of the game that I hated the most (and the reason I stopped picking it up) was the fact that I had to spend countless hours playing stupid games like "bingo-bango-bongo" in order to power up my golfer and get new equipment. Have they revised this in TW 10? What is the process that is used now to improve your golfer?

Thanks,
Brian

Any advantage to getting Xbox 360 over the PS3 version?

You can play rounds on any of the unlocked courses and your attributes go up/down after the round is done. And upon completion of each round, you're given the chance to practice skills that boost your attributes. And attributes can boosted by taking part in select Tournament Challenges which, when completed, unlock equipment and other courses.

Here are my final impressions:

this game is really, really good. Maybe not quite the golf sim people would like, but Tiger 10 plays a very good game of golf.

I am off work next week and I can literally see myself playing this game a ton. It is just very fun and very challenging.

Try a driver tuned for maximum power and workability and try hitting the fairway. Very hard.

Ball physics can be improved a lot, but overall they are better than 09. There is a bigger improvement in 2010 than I was expecting.

Thanks, that's good to hear. I HATED the way it was done in the past. Why can't they do something like "be a pro" where you work your way up the Nationwide Tour/Q school? That would be fantastic.

Re: Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 10 Impressions (PS3, 360)

I rented Tiger 10 360 to see the differences between this and the Wii version that I bought.

After only playing 2 rounds I am feeling kind of meh. I do like alot of the improvements that they made but they did take some things out that bug me for some reason.

Didn't Tiger used to keep track of all kinds of stats for each hole on each course that went into your confidence rating? I don't see any course stats at all except for the lifetime stats. Is there anywhere it tells you what your average is for each hole. In Links it would tell you before you hit your shot, it would also show you your longest drive and closest to the pin and I don't see any of that in Tiger 360 or the Wii, not a game killer but they had this in the past then got rid of it.

I don't mean to bash the game it does have a lot going for it but I still think Links has a better swing option and stat options in it that Tiger still doesn't and it ticks me off a little.

As for the differences in the versions the Wii does have better putting. I am having a little trouble judging the putting, I guess I need to turn on the meter till I get adjusted, but something in it seems a little off.
