As far as I'm concerned, he is the best player in the NFL and he should have a 99 ovr..
I disagree, but we can go back and forth about this forever.

You shouldn't even put Chris Johnson in the same sentence with AD really.

The scouts, coaches and front office personnel around the league gave him the Bert Bell Award as being the game's best player.

It depends on what we're talking about. Speed? yes Power? no

Ian had said that something earlier about an 89 speed RB breaking free and couldn't be caught, so I wouldn't sweat it.

Also, there are different types of "speed."

As for skills versus talent, the QB position has evolved. A lot of coaches want a QB to adhere to a strict system, these days. Very few QBs are given creative liberty, nor the ability to call plays. You can have all the physical talent in the world, but if you're not able to run the system a coach has, then you won't excel. And honestly, this is why I'm personally not sweating the fact that Cutler left town.

I think Peterson is the best back in the NFL right now, but he doesn't deserve a 99 in every rating. He had some problems holding onto the ball last year. I know because he led my fantasy football team to a championship . And, there isn't a player in the NFL that can't be stopped. Some are just extremely hard to stop without opening the defense up to be exploited by other players.

I agree. In Madden, I would rather have a 99 speed WR than a 99 speed RB. It's the opposite in NCAA.

What you saw in 07 was Brady finally getting a big name receiver to go with his superior reading ability. He broke records. Before Moss, all he had was average guys that made plays. Just look at what happened to all of the receivers that have left the Pats.

In regards to time and era. Yeah, the league has definitely become soft, but every qb and receiver play under the same conditions. Brady and others have excelled, many have not. But I do see what you are trying to say.

Here is a rule for you, if a qb throws the ball away or at a receivers foot. They should have an assistant come onto the field and hand that qb a japanese sword so that he can gut himself right there on the field, that coward bastard! They could call it the gut rule. I am joking with you of course.
I don't hate the players, or the game. I just hate the cheezy passing rules.

As to your point about Brady succeeding and others not succeeding. Brady plays for a very good coach, and a great organization. Most of the QBs in the NFL do not. They suffer through bad coaches, bad systems, weak supporting casts, crappy drafts, and oh yeah, more bad coaches.

Poor coaching and scouting ruins more teams than anything. The most important attribute an NFL QB can have under the current rules is accuracy. Can he hit what he's shooting at. Matt Ryan is not a gifted athlete. But the scouts could see that he had good mechanics and usually hit what he was shooting at. Very few teams put a premium on accuracy and thus wind up with guys like Jamarcus Russell and Alex Smith.
