Re: NCAA Football 10 Blog: Flexbone Offense

There appears to be a fundamental disconnect here...no offense to Anthony White because I love the variety of the playbooks and the number of plays, but the previous poster (stylee) is right...without accurate blocking logic, any "option" - be it from flexbone, triple option I-form, spread option, etc. - will remain broken as long as the blocking is unaddressed.

Broken blocking logic = still broken option. Cheesers and glitchers will love it - especially the ability to run more vertical passing as well (scrambler's paradise...just get a fast QB and run around until the DBs and LBs drop out in coverage and the DL gets engaged in animations on the line). Serious players and option purists will be back on these forums by July 18th with multi-page discussions about why the option is still broken...so let it be written, so let it be done.

Probably, but even in the NCAA part of the reason that it is so successful is because it's hard to prepare for when only 3 teams run it and your scout team isn't going to be as good with it at the teams that run it in real life. The only team that I see that could really abuse this is Florida with so much offensive speed, UF with this playbook would be nasty to try to defend IMHO.

Still I like the work the EA team put into making this playbook more effective. Good work EA.

sssssoooo do you think that this offense will throw people off when you use it? or will it be the offense that everybody tries to use as a novelty? ie the gator playbook

Agreed, Moos.

Another OL issue I saw was on the sweep play.
IRL, my team (and G-tech and Navy) teach the OL on the playside to "steal second base." Unless the DE is attempting to cross the tackles face to the outside, we leave him alone and almost screen pull to pick up any trash running the alley.

The reason the play works is that, in theory, you have more people blocking than they do defending because you can ignore certain people on the LOS - much like in an option

Dear God,

Did anyone see how fast that QB was coming out of that option? I hope they fix that. Unless Navy has a prime Mike Vick type QB which I don't know about, there's no way he should be that fast.

Again, I hope this is fixed.

Re: PLAYBOOK BLOG IS UP!!!!

I said this in the other thread, but that QB looks WAY too fast on that option run. I mean unless his speed is in the high 90's, there's no way a QB should be that fast on an option.
