No doubt this game will be a million times better than 2K8 (it would have been impossible to get any worse really) but i really see this as a very experimental first stab at Baseball from VC, that said....there is a lot of potential in there and i would hope in the next 2/3 years VC can bring that out and fine tune it.
Fair enough, I played 2k7 and 2k8 extensively and I liked them both, but after seeing these videos I could never see myself touching those two again. The atmosphere in this game especially that real time thing is brilliant. As far as the player faces, I guess I don't get into that much. There can always be improvements but I'm just happy that the presentation and the game play looks to be a major improvement from my point of view.

I agree with you about 2k7's graphics, but other than the graphics I thought 2k7 played like crap. To many home runs, no hit variety, not even a steady 30 fps, and a host of other things. I think because the graphics were so good people look back at it with a skewed point of view. Then again, that's just my opinion.

No, they're pretty aweful. They look inflatable...lol. There are plenty of things still wrong with this game (and some minor things worse) but overall the improvements are very noticeable.

Like a few have said, for a first year in a new direction, it looks pretty good. The better news is though, I don't think that VC will drop the ball in year two in this turnaround like Brinkman and co. did last year.

There's reason to be hopeful for this series, IMO

Lots of missing frames that sort of reminds me of Microsoft Baseball, those abrupt right/left faces (still have that game for the PC), but the game is looking pretty good and perhaps those things won't be missing from the final build. Looks like it's going to be a very playable game this year and look forward to a demo (or more vids).

Yeah, the game looks very playable this year. The swing happy cpu batters are a little concerning. I would think pitch counts are really low for the user because of this. I would hate to have to pitch crappy on purpose to combat this.

My 2 favorite things so far are the presentation and the commentary by Thorne.

Yep, agree, Thorne has always been good and the presentation is there. Hopefully some hands on before release.

Re: Major League Baseball 2K9 Video: Pirates @ Rockies End of Game

if you arent looking for an immersible environment with incredible realism, it looks like the game will be more playable than last years. Hard for me to say it has "improved" or taken a step up, since it seems that the improvements have come at a price as they have removed features from previous years. I am someone who enjoys realistic player faces and accurate (as possible) stadiums, so at times this game is tough on me.

When I read about the real-world environment I got hooked...but seeing it has me less then excited. While the broadcast cameras and cuts are cool, the players look very robotic moving to and from where they should be and there is a lot of opportunity for "weird" things to happen (player warming up in the circle after the game is over, Atkins' reaction to winning, etc).

anyway, seems playable compared to 2k8. My issue is more around the fact that after four years with the exclusive license, and the potential that 2k7 showed, I would have hoped we were closer to the greatness that this game could be. Now that its in new hands, maybe another 3 year plan will get it to its potential.
