Oh, it was too late to delay release to fix it. The game was already out (as people had the game, so obviously we couldn't delay it). A recall would have kept the game off shelves for two months. No reason to do that when it could be patched in a month for a bug that doesn't hit most users.

Testing it. They have to run through a ton of tests I'm sure. Even if the fix doesn't effect the area, they have to redo the tests because they aren't going to take some faceless programmer's word that he didn't touch anything else.
