I agree that the bottom line is that the games are what they are and not "what we wish they were." The sooner a person accepts this the better off they will be.
The only problem I really have is not that the games are not getting better fast enough, but that the games have taken 2 steps backwards, often missing features or messing up in areas where they excelled on the PS2/Xbox.
For example: I would have no complaints about the lack of custom soundtracks and ESPN presentation had it not been already done many years ago.
