What about Casemiro, what’s he doing there?

Didn't fall into the trap of engaging in an open, chaotic game with them, which was their only hope.

I actually thought United were far better than I had expected. Granted expectations are in the dump with them but they had several chances to get off a good shot but fluffed any and all final third actions.

Especially Garnacho. He does the hard part so well more often than not by getting by the defender(s) but when its time for the final cross and/or shot he sh*ts the bed. Still young though, he'll get there.

Honestly (believe it or not) I think that’s mostly down to Arsenal being confident in their defending, meaning they were willing to give certain things but not others, and those things being low percentage chances.

The xG (it’s never going away) tells the story—anywhere from .07 to .55 for United depending on the source as of now.

The entire season Arsenal have been the best at only allowing low percentage chances, and it happened again today. Sure, there’s always a chance a low percentage chance scores, but that’s the game that Arsenal have been playing well almost the entirety of the season.

The game plan was clearly to allow them to have the ball and to allow poor chances versus allowing it to be open. United were not torn apart but I honestly think it’s because the plan was never to try and attempt to do so. Second to last game of the season with a win keeping a slim title chance alive, if you know anything about Arteta you know he’s playing it conservatively away from home.

It was boring for neutrals, but United were the dwarf swinging at Arsenal, who had their hand on the top of the dwarfs head.

Re: 2023–2024 English Football Thread

Since 3rd is on lockdown, Klopp should shoot for getting that yellow card touchline suspension today so he can just get day drunk, stand in the Kop, and verbally abuse the referees on Sunday. Go out in style with the people.
