Lotta powder kegs ready to go off - Toronto, Chicago, Montreal. Which one goes boom first?

Chicago. A year after declaring a rebuild, they proclaimed "mission accomplished" and pushed their chips in. They're 0-5-1 and look horrendous. Not to mentioned the sexual assault scandal in the background. This is organizational level failure.

The Habs built up some goodwill after going to the cup last year and after an offseason where they lost a lot of talent combined with a return to a tougher division, means expectations are lower.

Toronto has been very stable since the Shanaplan was enacted. If they still look like crap after 20 games, then I could see a coaching change.

Hard to argue against any of the above.

Also, is it just me or has scoring been ridiculous in the super-early part of this year? Goals just seem to be flying in at NHL'95 Sega Genesis levels.

So, the Leafs new plan is to get another #1 pick? Can he replace Marner?

...and boom goes the dynamite. Stan Bowman steps down, Blackhawks fined 2 M.

I imagine they'll look externally for a replacement, likely someone with experience. Staying within house for a long term replacement would be really bad optics. Unless the team's fortunes on the ice improve drastically, Jeremy Colliton will probably be gone at the end of the year if not sooner. At the deadline I would expect perhaps shedding expiring's and not much else unless an offer is too good to pass up.

Based on the report, the Blackhawks fine should have 2 or 3 extra zeroes at the end.
And Quenneville and Cheveldayoff should be toast.

I'd be surprised if we don't hear about suspensions for them and everyone else at the May 23, 2010 meeting.
