I find it hilarious that with today's technology they cant make goalie equipment for aero dynamic. Goalies still safe and more room to shoot.

I'm sure they can, just nobody ever thinks to do it. If NHL goes to whoever makes the equipment and tells them to come up with a smaller/lighter but just as strong equipment for goalies, they'll be able to do it. Until then, what's the point of creating something there's no guarantee it'll be used?

It's more than that. I have a friend who works for Brian's and he said if they (or any other goalie manufacturer) came out with slim equipment on their own, every goalie on the planet would boycott their brand.
"Hey goalies! Guess what? You don't need that oversized bulky equipment afterall! You can be just as safe with our stuff AND your GAA will skyrocket while your SV% will plummet!".

He also told me that the technology has been there for more than a decade. Every goalie could look like Ken Dryden and still have supreme protection.
The NHLPA has been fighting this for years because nothing says Cha-CHING $$$ like a 1.80 GAA and .980 SV%.

What boggles my mind is that the goalies only make up less than 10% of the NHLPA and yet they dictate how the other 90% stats will be reflected.
I'm sure the top scorers in the league (you know, the guys that actually drive the entertainment value of the sport and bring in fans) would love to be scoring 50+ goals and 120+ points a year.

I believe it was slickdtc that said the goalies have had more than 20 years to shine in the sun, it's time to give the game back to the scorers.

I'm not going to hold my breath as the NHL has proven to be a colossal poop-show for more than 20 years now when it comes to fixing the game, particularly the goalie equipment.
It's doubtful they get it right this time. But I can hope and pray.

Incredible amount of credit goes to the Coyotes for not being a loser franchise losing on purpose this year. They did last year and could have easily done so this year given the "prize" but they're not. Good for them.

I was stunned to see them in the top 3 of the Pacific after last year. They've had some good years (playoff berths) over the last 5 seasons or so, so I shouldn't have been so surprised. They've got some exciting young talent. Makes it all the more frustrating that they aren't getting the support the team has earned.

Money, great call on the 10% setting the bar for the other 90%. Hmm... sounds like another issue where the extreme minority write the rules for the majority...

And in regard with Coyotes, they are holding on 2nd/3rd spot in Pacific with Smith sidelined, that is playing some inexperienced goalie.

And if they miss the playoffs, I would hope they get 1OA, because that would be great prize for their effort this year, unlike some teams.

Re: NHL 2015/16 Regular Season

Lightning finally getting a winning streak going, won 3 straight on the road after last night's 4-0 win against Colorado. Team looks a lot better with a fully healthy team out there

It was nice to see Johnson pot one. I know he's still injured from last years postseason so hopefully he's getting healthier by the day.

Love seeing Stammer pop two in as well. I think he's gone, but hopefully he gives the Bolts some great performances before he leaves.
