Edelman's hands were too thick, maybe not his hands, but his fingers, he needed more cushion to bring it in. A player needs a certain finger length in order to have a proper cushion to receive the goods.

There is also moisture to consider, a ball can slip if there's too much moisture, I'd recommend better finger protection and more practice with the jugs machine
