Re: Herschel Walker wants to play football again

I would love to see him do it. There is no way he could be a feature back who gets the ball 20 times a game. I'd give him a shot to be a short yardage back and maybe a pass blocker though.

He's a professional fighter now, it's not like he's just some old guy at the gym.

Yea, those that aren't very familiar w/ MMA trianing, I don't think people realize how much time/work he's putting into the gym. Ill put it like this football camp<<<

Re: Herschel Walker wants to play football again

Walker said on Dan Patrick Show yesterday (Interview is here) that he never said he was going to try and come back to the NFL. The question was asked and he said he thought he could play at age 50 and I guess the story took a life of it's own.

Quote:
Herschel Walker joined the show to talk about his MMA career and more.

Walker said that he has no plans of trying to go back to the NFL. He said that it was just something that came out during a press conference this week.

"It was a question asked if I could play today," Walker said. "I said there's no question I could play today."

Walker said he thinks he does belong in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, because when you add in is USFL numbers, he's up there with all of the game's greats.

But Walker said he's into it MMA. "I'm very serious about it," Walker said. "I moved out here to San Jose to train. They have one of the best gyms in the world out here."

Dan asked which is more violent -- NFL or MMA. "I think the NFL is," Walker said. "People consider MMA violent because they see the blood. But in the MMA if you get knocked down the official will stop it or you can tap out."

Walker, however, said he's rather get hit by an NFL player than fight Cain Velazquez. "He's the baddest man on the planet right now," Walker said.

Walker talked about his workout regimen. He still does up to 1,500 push-ups and 3,500 sit-ups a day. He said he's never taken anything ... it's just his workout regiment.

He also said he could run a 4.4 40 right now.

"I've been in this shape all my life," Walker said. "I haven't changed that much since I was playing."

Walker al

Walker said he was just answer

It was a question asked if I could play today. I said there's no quesiton I could play today.

MMA is hard.

It's a different type of contact. When you go into the Octagon you got four oz gloves on with no protection and you will get hit.

Yeah didnt the fromer NFL players who were on The Ulitmate Fighter show say that MMA training was harder than any of their NFL camps? I think I remember Marcus Davis saying it but cant be 100%.

Re: Herschel Walker wants to play football again

MMA training does not equal NFL training. There is no measurement for such a thing so dont use MMA is insanity compared to the baby NFL card. Thats moot. The point is, Hershel is old, his body is old. His body may look even better than it did when he was in college, but let me assure you that it is not. Hershel would look bad if he were to try the NFL again. Not that he would.

Re: Herschel Walker wants to play football again

There are NFL players use MMA training to stay in shape for the season and the ones who use it have said that it makes training camp and the season much easier for them. Lol at you judging how his body is. Not everyone ages the same.

Re: Herschel Walker wants to play football again

I know you are a fan but comon.

I'll put it to you this way. Human anatomy, physiology, histology, etc don't favor Mr. Walker in this scenario. You're right people do age differently, but in general they don't.

And lol at you thinking I'm judging Hershel Walker's body. This isn't a judgement....
