Bottom line, as it appears now, Dallas is simply not that good.
How is it the GM? THey are easily one of the more talented teams in the league. If THIS team was coached by Jeff FIscher or even Gary Kubiak, they would be 2-0 easily. Phillps has always sucked and he will continue to suck. Too many signs of the inmates running the asylum.

They never addressed the offensive line. #1 pick on Dez Bryant? He's a nice player, but did the Cowboys really need another WR? That was their most pressing need? Another Pass catcher?

Their Oline is poor and aging, their front 7 on defense lacks depth and still have far too many guys that don't really fit their position.

In the secondary, you think those safeties start for very many teams in the NFL? Newman and Jenkins are nice, and Scandrick does give them depth.

And last but not least they took a guy that really was never anything more than a kickoff specialist at USC and turned him in to their full time field goal kicker.

If it was a fantasy team and skill players were all that mattered then yes this would be amongst the most talented teams in the league.

I can't knock the Dez Bryant pick at all. He was easily the best WR in the draft, and yes, we needed a receiver and someone that could play on special teams. Roy Williams was an awful pick up, especially for what we gave up. Patrick Crayton was our kick returner and yea, he housed one last year, but he's not a big play guy and he's just an average receiver. Our receiving corps was pretty much Austin-Williams-Crayton-Ogletree-Hurd...pretty weak.

I agree with everything else. I was hoping we'd take a safety in the draft, we've been hurting there since Woodson retired.

I am sorry I just don't see how that was their most pressing need. He was a great prospect, but how many recievers do you need? And now how much of your salary budget is taken up by pass catchers? You're paying Dez #1 money. You just gave Austin a big raise. You just extended and gave a big raise to Roy Williams, and IIRC they just signed Witten to a nice contract not too long ago.

Not a knock on Bryant but I just don't see how that position was a position of need for Dallas. They had much much bigger holes to fill.

It wasn't the most pressing need but it looked more like an opportunity they couldn't refuse.

I got to give credit where credit is due, the Bears coaching staff had a solid game plan against a team that had much more talent than them.

Here is the bad/sad thing if you could see these issues why the hell couldn't the coaching/management of the cowboys see it. I mean the Jerry should have been drafting for offensive line help for the last few years but we take "skill" player after skill player in our drafts.

Trust me I live through the exact same thing in watching the Chargers drafts.
