And he drops plenty of passes, usually when he is in open space.

Nothing Arvbas said about him is incorrect.
He catches way more than he drops... I'm pretty sure the ratio is quite lopsided when it comes to catches:drops.

FYI he had 3 fumbles last season..

Agreed, that could be said about any receiver though I would imagine. Just watching game after game with him makes it seem like he drops more than he should, fumbles in times when he should be clutching the ball as tight as possible.

3 as a receiver, 1 as a "running back" on a reverse.

edit: By the way, I would agree with you that just looking at his stats doesn't make it seem like he has ball security issues. (I couldn't find a dropped passes stat.)

He is a 57% catch rate, which is low for an "elite" receiver.

57% isn't bad for a receiver who makes his bones going across the middle...Yea he fumbled 3 times but do you understand he takes on Linebackers and safeties... He can't win them all. As far as being elite, I wouldn't put him in that category---good yes but great---nah...

I'm just saying he is worth the so-called trouble.

The only thing keeping him from elite status (imo of course) is his off field issues. If he could keep his nose clean I'd put him right in the mix.

With that said, it sucks that we nitpick the bad so much... we do it more the more good the player does. But the thing is, consistency is as important as talent if not more. When plays are drawn up, the game's on the line, etc. you have to be able to expect the better players to do certain things. I don't think Big Ben is the 3rd most talented QB in the NFL but on a game winning drive in the 4th qtr, I expect him to pull it off and I'd want him on my team at that moment more than all but 2 other QBs at this point. With Marshall (and TO and Edwards for that matter), things like dropping passes and ball security seem like things that should be fixable so it's a bit more frustrating than if they didn't make as many amazing catches or moves.
