lakers done?

so who thinks the lakers are done this year? I hate to say this has i am a big laker fan but i think they are done i mean they are 9-13 now they have lost to sever bad teams already like tonights game they have already lost like 6 home games. The 2 things that i worred about coming into the season was there bench and there deffences and both have looked even worse then i thought it would. It semmes like the lakers are finding ways to lose one night they play no deffences a different night they lose because of free thorws. Ever one is saying wieght intell nash comes back but there offisve is not whats hurting them the most its deffences and nash is a terable deffender so he is not going to help that part plus pau is out and we dont know when he will get back. The lakers are only 9-13 even thow kobe is playing great and i dont know if he can keep playing this good for the remader of the season has he is playing a lot of minutes again i am worred that has the season goes on that he is going to get overly fautiged last year if you look at kobes first half of the seasons numbers they where a lot better then the second half he shoot like 5% better the first half and he scored i think around 3 points a game more the first half of the season so i dont know if kobe can continue to play this good for the full season playing so many minutes so my lakers panic metter is 10.

10?? How can the panic meter be at 10 when they don't even have Nash back yet?

Re: lakers done?

No. Their are many games left to be played the season is far from over. Am I saying they win the Finals? no not by a long shot but they make the playoffs. The problem with the Lakers boils down to 3 problems.

1. Mike D'Antoni : Coach Pringles isn't the sharpest tool in the shed when it comes to defense. He disregards it almost completely to a point where it is just sad and pathetic. I'm convinced he doesn't know how to but that is a rant for another day. Furthermore his "7 seconds or Less" offense does not work with the Lakers (Especially considering they don't have Nash at the moment). His whole offensive scheme requires pushing the break every single time on offense, something that an older team (Like the Lakers) has difficulty doing. They get so tired from bolting down to the other end of the court every single time on offense that the end result is that they can't get back on defense. And when they manage to they are often way to tired to apply significant defensive pressure on opponents. D'Antoni really needs to reinvent himself as a Head Coach or otherwise somethings gonna happen.

2. Lack of Depth off the bench

Antwan Jamison Jodie Meeks and Jordan does not qualify as Bench depth. Yes they are all quality players but you need more than just three guys that could come off the bench. Management was so focused on bringing in Dwight and Nash that they failed to identify what caused the Lakers to crumble last year which was lack of role players. Their were many veterans out in the market that were willing to accept low salaries so they could go to a legitimate title contender and the Lakers failed to capitalize on that. I'm not saying that the Dwight and Nash moves were bad ones all I'm saying is that a starting 5 does not make a team. You need good players coming off the bench because no one can play 48 minutes a game. Furthermore if someone gets injured you need a solid backup for them. Chris Duhon is not a good backup PG to Steve Nash

3.Dwight Howards Free Throws : I don't need to explain this one.

Those points aside I think that down the line the Lakers get it somewhat together. Where they make a good enough run to finish as the 4th or 5th seed.

Re: lakers done?

They got exposed last year. Adding Howard, Nash, and Jamison after the Mike Brown blunder aint gonna change jack.

No need for the over-analysis. Its a wrap.

Slow and old.

Boston fans and the media arent crying as their window closes.

DEAL.

Re: lakers done?

They are done. Honestly, they should be the team to move to Seattle. Clean out the roster full of bums and start fresh.

On that note, since they're done, who should they choose with their lottery pick?

Also, the Lakers are 1-10 this season when Bean scores more than 30. He should try passing.

Re: lakers done?

the panic metter can be at a 10 even with out nash because like i said they have no bench and like i said the thing is the lakers are playing no defense what so ever and the starter are playing to many minutes and other then howard they are a old team and nash is not going to help the lakers terable defense he has alrease been a bad defender him self plus who nows how much longer he will be out for and he has been out for a while so even when he comes back he his going to be ruste and it will take him time to bild his endurce and steve black is out and pau is out so the injures are hurting this team and yeah there is a lot of the season to go but its not exactly early ether and they are finding defferent ways to lose witch is what bad teams do find a way to lose and with the start they have had any changes of home court is just about over with so come playoffs even if they play a lot better from hear to the end of the seaon they are going to have to play on the road and play more difficult teams pluse mike daltone does stupid rotaions kind of like mike brown.

Re: lakers done?

So painful to try and read those posts...

On topic: No, wait until at least Nash comes back before we sound the alarms.

Nobody can deny that these Lakers have great potential, just a matter if Pringles can get it.

Re: lakers done?

I don't know who needs to be brought in but someone does, possibly a defensive minded veteran Big who can at least mentor Dwight. But something needs to happen or the one of the West's top dogs will plummet.
