Jefferson on move again?
Marc J. Spears, Globe Staff June 17, 2009 09:30 PM

An NBA executive told the Boston Globe today that the Minnesota Timberwolves is working a deal with the Phoenix Suns that would send former Celtics forward Al Jefferson and their sixth pick in next week's NBA Draft for All-Star Amare Stoudemire.

The Suns, which have dangled Stoudemire for some time, fiound a suitor in Minnesota that is in transition. The team announced today that coach Kevin McHale has ended his 15-year association with the team. New basketball of operations David Kahn is looking to take the franchise into another direction.

AJ is pretty much equal to Amare...Doesn't complain either. Adding a pick though? Bad deal...

If anything Minny should look to get veteran help by trading that pick.

As bad as this deal is, Minny has pressure to win now. Attendance has been brutal the past few seasons and a high flyer like Amare could bring more people in Target Center.

I don't like it at all for Minnesota. Either the TWolves need to get Phoenix's #14 pick or, like you said, a veteran to help them win now.

Plus, Amare will bounce out of that city unless they win a ring.

Phoenix gets the much better end of this deal.

Why would Minny even consider this deal? I thought McHale was let go...

That'd be a fantastic deal for Phoenix. Assuming that is legit, I didn't know Kerr was capable of doing such a thing.

Re: Big Al Jefferson + 6th pick for Amar'e?

i saw this on celticsblog.com today...stupid trade on minny's end. jefferson is younger, and you'd be wise to build that team with love and jefferson together, looking to add a top wing player somehow.

the only thing that amare does better is his defense - jefferson just stinks on the defensive end. but now that big al is under contract, you'd be wise to keep him and develop him.

this is why many nba gm's are morons...they're just shuffling deck chairs on the titanic, which is what minny seems to be doing with that franchise.
