You can say that about all sports

The NHL only has 4 people who coached on their current team prior to 21-22

NBA has 11 guys who have been there since 20-21

MLB at 12 guys who coached before 2021

NFL with 10 who coached before 2021

Re: 2024 Offseason Thread

Seeing reports that Bulls are looking to resign DeRozan and still want to compete. I can get resigning DeRozan to a 1 year deal. But, it feels like Bulls are still destined to be a play-in team. Next offseason is a better FA class. Ideally if Lonzo was healthy and Lavine can stay healthy, maybe you can talk yourself into it. But, just feels like that organization is just focused on attendance and profits.

I would do a rebuild. Let DeRozan walk or S&T, Caruso's value will not get any higher than it is now, see if Lavine still has any trade value. Next year is a better draft and FA.

Time to join this thread... hoping the Knicks re-sign OG.

Hartenstein is most likely gone. The Knicks can only offer him something like 16-18M, I believe, he will get 20+ somewhere. Not too worried about him as we can't have both iHart and Mitch. We need a big that can space the floor.

I'd try running it back with a healthy Randle and OG. Although health and OG can be an issue.

Any truth to the Mikal Bridges rumors to NY?

There aren’t any because they’re not trading him and if they do, it won’t be to the Knicks anyway for various reasons.

Feel like he’s another example of a good player that folks want to get off a bad team and play for a good team just because especially when it makes no sense from the Nets side to do that.

Only time it made sense was when Houston came calling and were offering our picks back. And time will tell if that was a dumb decision or a foolish one.

Re: 2024 Offseason Thread

Also, the Knicks will not have the best offer for Bridges.

Further, I'm not sure he's a better fit than Randle.

The Knicks are in a weird spot as well, they'll have to re-sign OG for a big contract this off season while also having to extend Brunson and Randle (will opt out) in a year.

I think reports came out that Brunson would be willing to sign an extension this year at 4/156 but next year that would be 5/270. That's a lot of money to leave on the table.

Some of the talking heads on the radio are pushing the idea of Knicks going all in and moving Randle++ for PG but does that really make the Knicks better short term?

Randle is in his prime and maybe has some small room for further improvement.
