Whoa, never said Brian Shaw was good. Only said I would rather have him try than Mike Brown.

So Antonio Davis is ignoring Brown's performance last year? It sounds like he's ignoring his performance last year.

Nah, it was a question general, lol. I've heard people throw his name out there in regards to Coaching Vacancies do I've just been curious as to where all the praise/hype for him has come from.

I think it has to do with him being a beloved Laker player and more importantly having learned from Phil Jackson.

Also if Shaw failed, I personally think more people would just say it didn't work. He learned from the best and just isn't the best. They would move on and question the hiring much less than the Brown hiring.

Hey, there's a guy in Chicago that had a similar problem. (I know I'm reaching hard here to compare him to that, but it's true. It did happen).

I think it's obvious GMs aren't necessarily very good at recognizing coaching talent.

And I'm not saying I am either because I think recognizing coaching talent is probably one of the hardest things to do in professional sports. There are far too many intangibles that actually matter in coaching than in actually playing the game.

You sometimes get these guys that are strategic brainiacs as assistants or in interviews (ie Eric Musselman) and for other reasons, it doesn't translate to success.

Then you might get the complete opposite of that guy that's the innovative, free-spirited player's coach and they can't make the proper adjustments to succeed.

But you can also name guys that have succeeded under those parameters. You just never know until you know.

I do know that Mike Brown is a bum.
