If you were building a team...

If the league was starting over and you had the first two picks in the draft, who would you take to build your franchise around? One hitter and one pitcher.

Re: If you were building a team...

I wouldn't take Strasburg personally, I don't think his arm will last long term. Very violent delivery. A lot of stress on his shoulder.

I would take Felix Hernandez. He's only 2 year older than Strasburg, but is already established as not only an ace, but extremely durable ace. He's been throwing 230 innings each of the past 4 years and hasn't missed a start. I like his delivery and it doesn't look like he's the type of guy who will fall apart and have arm issues. Big game pitcher

I would take Stanton as my hitter. What he did at 22 and in his 2nd full season was incredible, it took Mickey Mantle 5 seasons to show the type of power Stanton has shown since last season.

Only reason I would pass on Trout is because he's only had that one big season. Want to see him do it again. I'm sure he will though.
