2009 Award Predictions

NL

MVP: No question about it Albert Pujols.

CY Young: Adam Wainwright ( homer pick but has been one of the most consistent pitchers in the NL ) or Tim Lincecum for obvious reasons.

ROTY: Tommy Hanson, Chris Coghlan, J.A. Happ, Colby Rasmus.

AL

MVP: Mark Teixeira ( Yes he plays for the Yankees but he's done a great job. MVP means most valuable, Mark Teixeira is valuable on both sides of the field. Because of him DJ, A-Rod, and Cano are having their best defensive years. )

CY Young:
Zach Grienke or Justin Verlander

ROTY: Elvis Andrus or Andrew Bailey.

What do you guys think?

Re: 2009 Award Predictions

NL: Pujols
Runner Up: Hanley Ramirez

AL: Mauer
Runner Up: Teixeira

NL Cy: Lincecum
Runner Up: Wainwright

AL Cy: Greinke
Runner Up: Hernandez

These aren't necessarily predictions, but who should win the award. When it come to award voting (especially Cy Young) it can be nearly impossible to say which way the voters will go.

Re: 2009 Award Predictions

Are you really suggesting Teixeira was better than Joe Mauer this year?

Or that his contribution to a ridiculously loaded team was actually more "valuable." He wouldn't be as poor a selection as Morneau was, but pretty close. He probably isn't even the most valuable Yankee.

Mauer has better numbers at a vastly more important position, which should be more than enough to offset the playing time difference.

I think Lincecum SHOULD win the Cy Young this year, just looked at his stats aside from his W-L record, but I don't think he'll actually get it.

If that's the case then Carpenter should be up there aswell ( which he still is but not that high )

He has 2 more wins and 1 less loss than Lincecum, Has given up 8 less hits in 3 three less starts because of him missing pretty much the entire month of May.

His GO/AO (groundouts per fly-outs ratio) his almost 1.00 higher so if the Giants didn't play in such a pitcher-friendly park might have given up a lot more than 9 home-runs. He has thrown 8 less wild pitches and has given up 18 less stolen bases than Lincecum which could be argued that the Cards have Yadi but in fact Bengi has thrown out more runners than his younger brother. Some may ask how that's irrelevant but it is because it allows a runner to move up an extra base to put him in a better scoring postion.
