This is going to be my 2014 F1 Career with a little bit of story telling to keep it interesting(hopefully). However I won't be playing as myself as I've always found it unrealistic putting myself in games so I've decided to be all patriotic and play as my fellow countrywoman Susie Wolff. Here goes nothing.......

2014 Formula 1 Career
Team: Williams
Driver: Susie Wolff
Difficulty: Legend
Objective: (Overall) Win Championship/(Season 1) Be competitive and score points.
Other Information: 100% Race Distance, Full Race Weekend

Huge Line Up Change

With the 2014 Formula One season only a few weeks away Williams F1 Team have replaced their promising young Finnish driver Valterri Bottas with female test driver Susie Wolff in a move that has shocked the world.

(Bottas)

Bottas who scored 4 points for the team last season had his contract terminated yesterday after repeatedly showing up to work drunk. Williams team principle Claire Williams said "Mr Bottas was given several warnings yet continued to show up to work intoxicated." The final straw apparently came when he claimed the car was that bad last season that it wouldn't make a difference whether he drove it while drunk or not. Perhaps he picked up the bad habits from his hero growing up Kimi Riakkonen.

(Massa/Wolff)

So with Bottas being booted out the door opens up for 31 year old Scottish driver Susie Wolff. Wolff who has been Williams test driver for the past 2 years may not have the pace of Bottas but she is likely to turn up sober which is at least one positive. Felipe Massa will partner her this season after joining Williams from Ferrari since the Italian team opted not to renew his contract.

(Mercedes 2014 Car)

Meanwhile Mercedes have dominated in pre-season testing and are odds on favourites for this years world championship. Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg have been untouchable on the time sheets and current champion Sebastian Vettel will have a huge task on his hands to retain his title this season.

Williams Drivers Q&A

The wait is finally over! The new F1 2014 Season has arrived, we are in Melbourne, Australia for the opening race of the season. Shortly before practice we managed to get caught up with Williams duo Felipe Massa and Susie Wolff for a few questions.

Q: How does the Williams car feel heading into the first race weekend of the season?

FM: Good, It's nice to finally drive a car that doesn't suck.
SW: I haven't had a chance to drive it yet sadly, it's still suffering from a hangover.

Q: Will either of you miss Bottas?

FM: Well I didn't really know him but Susie is better looking so not really!
SW: Nope, without his stupidity I wouldn't be here.

Q: Felipe, How will you cope if you lose to a woman this season?

SW: Felipe has been destroyed by Alonso for the past 4 years so I'm pretty sure he can deal with losing.
FM : Ha, don't make me send you back to the kitchen......
SW: Not if I send you to the hospital first!

Round 1 Australia

Free Practice
Lewis Hamilton: 1:28:521 - 1st
------------------------
Felipe Massa: 1:29:774 - 5th
Susie Wolff: 1:29:900 - 7th

The wait was finally over as the cars went out on track for Practice but there was no surprises as Mercedes claimed a 1-2. Hamilton and Rosberg dominated the session and looked a class above the rest of the field as only Ferrari's Fernando Alonso was able to get within a second of front the two. With this weekend set to be a Mercedes walkover will Hamilton be able to repeat this in qualifying or can Rosberg snatch pole?

Qualifying

Mercedes repeated their dominance in qualifying with another 1-2 however this time it was Nico Rosberg who was fastest to claim pole position. Nico Hulkenberg had a great session and managed to qualify 3rd for Force India. Williams pair Felipe Massa and Susie Wolff qualified 6th and 14th respectively.

Great idea to do a career with a woman since it's totally unique. I thought about trying that with Tiger Woods or Top Spin but I have too many dynasties already.

love it, great idea!

i'm very impressed with the realism of your result in this first practice. i only played f1 2010 and 2011 from codemasters and something that always put me away was the inconsistency in a.i. lap times. in some tracks i would be two seconds off the pace, in others i would totally dominate. do you know if this is any better now?

Thanks! Since she hasn't race in F1 yet it will be like starting a new career anyway, with a clean slate, no records etc Was either play as Susie Wolff or go Paul Di Resta but he has already had his chance and failed to succeed really so this way feels new and fresh I think.

I tried to do a Top Spin Career with full length match settings but it was far too time consuming. Plus I think the rosters suck 10 current male and 7 current female players is ridiculous especially with the fact they only give you 4 slots for created characters.

Thanks dude!

I found that also especially in 2010 I was pretty much unbeatable at some tracks and useless at others. I think they have improved it with the new game but there are still some tracks I am way off the pace however these tend to be the newer tracks that are towards the end of the season so it might just be due to me not racing at them that often. The thing that really bothers me is how poor the AI is at the start and for the first couple of corners. At most circuits if you floor it you can qualify 10th yet lead the race after the first 2/3 corners. This is potentially a game breaker for me so I just purposely drive slow/sensibly at the start as gaining 10 places is unfair and very unrealistic which certainly doesn't appeal to me.
