Re: Best football game never made?
It looks like they really had something there. There have been so many football games that never saw the light of day:
NFL Fever 2005
Blitz: The League 3
Road to Sunday
Gridiron Glory
CFL 2000 (and a number of other CFL projects over the years)
NFL 2K6
APF 2K9
Madden '96 (PS1)
Madden (Sega CD)
NFL QB Club '96 (PS1)
In Your Face Football (360 indie game)
Retro Studio's Football game
Tecmo Super Bowl (PS2)
Madden '93 (NES)
Retro Studio's Football game (Gamecube)
Mike Ditka Big Play Football (NES)
Power Play Football (NES)
Blood Bowl (PS1)
Arena Football (Atari Jaguar)
There are likely more that I can't remember or I'm just not aware of, but the ones in blue are all games I know of that were in development at one time but got canceled before ever reaching beyond technical prototype stage. Road To Sunday is the only post 32-bit era game in that category to release a single screenshot during early development... IYFF is the only canceled one to show a single video. It's something valuable to take note of in regards to how info is handled at early stages of development for football games. If you find any information at all on most of those games (screenshots, videos of gameplay), it's coming many years after cancellation when it no longer matters, but never before the beginning of the marketing/release cycle when it did.
