I hope they still have the huge, long bomb, ball-lofting-in-an-arc-that-takes-forever-to-come-down aspect to the game!

This could be THE ONE!

You have the same vision as me. It was those little things which made this game so great. It would be cool if on occasion they had a camera which followed the balls flight up close as it landed in the receivers hands 50 yards down the field. I really do love the cinematic aspects of Tecmo Super Bowl! I willl be seeing all you Operation Sports peeps online when this game drops. Looks like this game is going to earn me a whole lot more friends on my buddy list, that is until they get frustrated with all the whippings I bring to them, lol.

Season mode? Check.

Online play? Check.

Customizable rosters? Check.

Option to use the old 2D graphics? Check.

Looks like this one has every chance to turn out well.

Everything you wrote was exactly what I was thinking, especially with the updated graphics and how they might ruin the core gameplay mechanics. Being able to switch retro has all but ended my fears. Now can we please get a game trailer Tecmo.

Haven't played Lode Runner, but I've got XBLA R-Type and it is an awesome port!

In R-Type, you can literally switch between the 2D and 3D graphics at the press of a button. It's a very cool effect -- no need to pause the game or go into the menus!

I hope they keep the original soundtrack intact, too. I believe R-Type had the option to toggle between classic or arranged soundtracks in the menus.
