Opinion on Route Running....

Obviously you are not going to make a video of this but work on your blocking technique as well. I know when scouts come around they will be looking for a WR that can block.

I remember when Carson-Newman scouts were scouting me at QB, I sat down and watched my game films with their QB coach and he mentioned a few times about one of our WR's down field blocking. And he actually called him into the meeting and talked to him about playing at Carson-Newman.

So trust me, work on your blocking technique along with all of the obvious WR qualities.

Back when I played, HS SO. I would always push the opposite shoulder of my cut. For example if I was running a slant I would get a release like I was running a go and trying to get outside of the guy. Then after my 3 steps I would make my cut, if you could get off the line good and get your guy to turn his hips then you got it easy on that route.

I remember talking to my coach and he said the best reciever he ever had ran a 5.0 40, but he was so good because he ran really good crisp routes. So you don't have to be the fastest if you run good routes, and work on your blocking. Our JV went and played a smaller school's varsity team and I got more and more playing time after that game because we ran the ball alot and I was get some pancakes on some linebackers.

Some of your fakes are a bit over the top... you throw your head and raise your hands in the direction you're faking... all while slowing down right before making a cut.

You don't need to do all that. One simple fake (your shoulders should be a bit more involved... you're faking mostly with your head, not upper body) and then an explosion.... one of the best ways to make a cut.

All you need is a step on your man. Once you find a QB who can lead you well you should be ok. Keep working closely with your QB... if they can know where you're at, how long it takes to get there and so forth... that can prove invaluable to you.

Listen to what BK and a few guys have been telling you, just a tip when you breakdown on a comeback,curl,out or any route such as these make it look like you are trying to actually run past the db.. but instead make you cut low and quick. Once I perfected this I was able to get open on guys far faster then me. as i'm 6'1 220

I got a question. What are some moves I can do to beat press coverage? I know the rip, but I'm trying to find some moves to mix it up with. I am pretty much 4 inches taller than the tallest DB, and can prob. out muscle most, but I am looking for diverse moves that work. I prob. have some more questions but thats all I can remember now.
