I disagree with shaqyr. Companies can do what they want in terms of providing features. The reason they are allowed to milk us is because year in and year out the ignorant masses line up and fork out the dough. We're the problem. EA, Take2, Sony,etc.... are in the market to make money the cheapest way possible. Less time providing additional features reduces their labor cost and since this is a variable direct cost reduction it results in a higher contribution margin.

We need to stop demanding and "just" expecting these companies to provide these features. By not buying their product is the best recourse we have. I wish these companies had the integrity to put in all the features but it ain't goin' happen unless we change our buying habits.

I think the KEYS to success for these games are great graphics paired with ultra realistic stats.....In that regard I think both the new HC and the forthcoming FOM are failures..The gameply looks fakey...


The right IDEA is there...But the execution is lacking.

HC simply should have used the Madden graphics engine and it would have sold a lot more.

Especially as you get older, "joystick" games become uninteresting. They did a nice job with The Show, but I'm bored already because it's far too easy to hit and pitch. I cheer 2K for coming up with Front Office Manager and I hope the trend continues. Plus, the internet allows for some cool text-sim leagues for indy developers such as http://www.pennantchase.com which I work on. All in all it's an exciting time for those of us who like these games.

I think text-sim games would be most enjoyed at the massively multiplayer level. Having either imaginary leagues integrated much like hattrick soccer, or even just playing a full-on NFL text franchise with other users would be pretty exciting. Imagine doing drafting and free agency with 32 other people fighting for players... it'd be pretty fun!
