What's the dog got in his mouth?

Well he ate the fingers off the grilling glove. Now I have a Kevlar weightlifting glove I guess.

A few months back, thought I'd save some money so I bought a 7 lb roast, put it in the crockpot with potatoes, carrots, all the veggies, that will feed us for a few days. My wife gets home first and gets dinner all set. Nice big roast sitting on the kitchen table. I go up and change out of my work clothes. Wife goes to the door to tell the kids dinner is ready. Dog runs past me tail between his legs.
I get to the table and there is a couple of carrots and a potato sitting in a pool of gravy. Hey dear, where's the roast? 7lbs of prime roast beef gone in seconds. 2 bites 3 tops.

I honestly don't know why we have pets. They cost a fortune with all their shenanigans.
Much like children, dogs need discipline from an early age. All our pups we've had; none of them do any of this stuff. We trained them early on that it's a huge no-no to take food unless it's offered, not to chew clothes, (by providing plenty of toys), etc.

Both of these clowns have been to obedience class and have plenty of toys, ropes, etc. I play chuck it with them every day or take them for a run to get their energy out. It's really not that bad, they just do the occassional stupid thing. The lab knows he's done something bad as soon as he does it. He goes running by with his tail between his legs and goes in the corner and puts his head down. He has congestive heart failure now, so he probably won't be around too much longer, so its hard to be tough on him now. Sad to watch him grow old. From a sitting position by my side he could chase down a chuck it ball and catch it on the first bounce about 40 yards a away. He could do that for hours. Now its just a couple throws and he's spent.

He's been a good dog overall. Worst thing he ever did was when he was crated in the bedroom when he was a puppy, he somehow bounced his crate over near the curtains and pulled the curtains into his cage and then bounced the crate over to the bed and pulled a comforter into his cage. To this day, have no idea how he pulled those things into the cage. there was really no possible way to pull that through the wires, be he did it.

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?

Our dog has taken advantage of stupid people (including me) in our family leaving food around.

Our daughter left a 6 inch sub on a plate on the floor in her bedroom. Thank you.

I brought home one of the best pizzas in this area. Our sons asked if they could have one slice before everyone else came home. The opened pizza was left on the side of the table. She left 3 or 4 pieces.

We have learned all food goes to the center of the table, she can't reach the center. She hasn't tried taking food for a few years and we have all learned from our mistakes.

That's sad. I know the feeling of having a beloved dog grow old and slow. Enjoy your time with him. Sorry for sounding harsh; I had no idea.

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?

I've mentioned it before but I'll mention it again cause it's still so annoying....

Having these telemarketers and sales people calling and leaving a message not even realizing that the voice that "picked up" was the default/generic robotic voice message voice. So then they start going on thinking that it was an actual person who picked up and start talking and asking questions as if it was a real person who picked up the phone.

Isn't their job to call hundreds of people a day? How do they not realize they're not talking to an actual person but rather, leaving a voice message? It doesn't take much intelligence to work in some call center or something like that.

I had a roommate who left out Halloween candy (I wasn't even home) and he blamed my dog for eating it. My dog almost died. Thank goodness Hershey bars are like 1% chocolate and 99% sugar/cream or else she would've died.

She threw up chocolate for two days it was horrible.

The candy was left in a VERY accessible area that my 6 lb dog could reach.
