I agree with the top two, 03 and 04 have always been looked at as the top of Mount Everest when it comes to sports gaming years especially when streamers, youtubers, and other folks constantly refer to games that came out those two years.

Great analysis, hard to argue. Overall, though, makes me sad that it has been like 20 years since we have had a "great" sports gaming year.

Nice article and analysis. I would love for us to have a candidate to add to this list before 2030, but I'm skeptical

Yeah it's a tricky thing, there are so many games I would take that have come out since those "golden years" but you have to judge it against the times, and at the time, they were special even if the "average" stuff now I prefer to play over them. But it's a fun rankings to do, thanks for reading!

Ahh man, so many fond memories of most of these games. It's too bad sports gaming isn't as peak as it used to be but I'm glad to some iconic franchises make comebacks like College Football, Tony Hawk (remakes), Skate and Hot Shots Golf. Also love PGA Tour 2K25 (although I know there's controversy around the VC like with NBA 2K).

Seeing both College Basketball and College Baseball return are definitely two things at the top of my "hopeful" list. Would love to see San Diego Studio take a crack (or ping) at college baseball since they've been dabbling with it in Road to the Show.

Great article, Chase.

I am a big fan of the 94 Sega NHL.

It was my favorite game growing up. Used to keep stats on paper and everything lol. How times have changed
