I don't understand why developers can't make a zombie game with the correct atmosphere, fear, and intensity of what this plague would really be.

Take games like Outlast or Alien Isolation, those games show how to do atmosphere which creates the mood a zombie title should have. Then add in the survival aspect of something like Don't Starve, extremely rough conditions that change constantly and force you to be always on your toes. The crafting and item system as robust as say Skyrim or one of those large open world games, plus realism of gun or weapon play of a title like ARMA 3. Finally remove the MMO aspect and make it a 2-16 Coop multiplayer experience. Don't add in human bandits, instead replace those with AI bandits.

I want this type of game but DayZ is so buggy its not worth it.
