Dragon Age III: Inquisition

BioWare Announces Dragon Age 3: Inquisition

Quote:
EDMONTON, Alberta--(BUSINESS WIRE)--BioWare, a Label of Electronic Arts (NASDAQ: EA), today announced Dragon Age™ 3: Inquisition, the next chapter in the award-winning role-playing game (RPG) franchise, is in development at BioWare Edmonton and BioWare Montreal. Coming in late 2013, Dragon Age 3: Inquisition combines the storytelling legacy BioWare is known for, with deep RPG gameplay, all on a brand new RPG game engine underpinned by EA’s critically-acclaimed Frostbite™ 2 technology.

“The Dragon Age team has been working on Dragon Age 3: Inquisition for almost two years now,” said Aaryn Flynn, General Manager of BioWare Edmonton and BioWare Montreal. “We’ve been poring over player feedback from past games and connecting directly with our fans. They haven’t held back, so we’re not either. With Dragon Age 3: Inquisition, we want to give fans what they’re asking for – a great story with choices that matter, a massive world to explore, deep customization and combat that is both tactical and visceral.”

Added Flynn, “At the same time, we know we need new technology to truly make this vision become fully realized. And we’ve been working with DICE to make Frostbite 2 the foundation for the engine that is going to power Dragon Age 3.”

The Dragon Age franchise has received over 80 awards from critics around the world, and has sold over 8 million copies to date*. Created by BioWare, the property has spawned many novels, an animated film, comic books, collectibles and more since Dragon Age: Origins launched in 2009.

Using Frostbite 2? Me likey. I'm not a graphics stickler, but I just couldn't bare playing DA2 for long. Everything being so bland just took me out of the game and turned it into something very boring to me.

Hopefully Bioware learned from the mistakes of Dragon Age 2.

Can't wait for more details, I wonder what kind of graphics we'll be talking about. The graphics in the DA and ME series have always been... just average in comparison to the greater part of the next-gen, not that it mattered because all the games were amazing, but it'll be cool to see some grand vistas that Bioware is rumoured to be trying to create.

And hopefully this leads to no environments being reused.

I hope having two studios working on it at the same time makes it feel less... rushed than DA2. Looking forward to more details

hopefully it's more like DA:O than DA2. I didn't really like DA2, but DA:O was really great, one of my top RPG games I've played. graphics don't really matter to me that much, the graphics in the other DA games and ME games were good enough for me(at least the PC versions of them).

Yeah I didn't care for part 2, it was too short and the story line was boring. The original one was excellent because everybody had a well thought out back story and you could play as different people fleshing out their back story.

Dragon Age really was the RPG that got me back into RPGs after 8 years of not playing them.

Since I'm one of 6 people who liked DA 2 more than DAO, it's obviously a no brainer first day purchase for me.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

I can't even count how many hours I put into DA:O; especially with all the DLC. DA2, just one play through. To me it was such a downgrade going from Dawn Spawn to just one little town and from Commander of the Grey Wardens to some Champion.

Either way I hope Bioware go back to their roots. A deep story with a lot of places to explore.

I'm with you. DA:O is one of the best games ever. Right behind Mass Effect but that is another story. If they can come close to what they did with DA O's I'll be clearing my calendar when this comes out.
