Re: The Sims 3

My girlfriend wants it but I cant help but shake the feeling Im always paying for the same damn thing from EA. They release The Sims, then they release 10+ expansions, release a new version of The Sims while leaving out half the expansions while taking the other half and stripping them down to make the remaining 5 expansions into 10 expansions with each one having less then before. At this point Im getting the feeling that EA is just laughing to the bank while suckers keep buying the same thing over and over again.

Anyone know if Sims 2 has the ability for mod's? The first one had a ton of items that were created for the game that you could download and use but I've yet to see anything like that for the second one.

www.modthesims2.com

I'm getting it,

I bought all the expansions for the first series, for the 2nd series I only bought Seasons and for this, well, I doubt I will buy any expansions.

But having the whole town be seemless is something I've wanted for a while.

My only thing about this is I don't know if I get as many hours of playing time in to equal $60. Or, however much it is

Thanks for the link. Have you ever downloaded mods for Sims 2 previously? We downloaded a ton of mods for the first one but nothing for this one since I couldnt find them initially and since gave up looking. Any info you can provide would be helpful.

Re: The Sims 3

its very simple, there is this folder
My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Downloads
that makes everything easy and the game will warn you if you are messing with it too much

I only installed a few objects and default skin replacements, mainly to improve graphic quality.

There is one that allows specular lighting and one that changes the day/night cycle to allow sunrise & sunset like that last pic.

but yea, installing is a breeze, if you sign up on that site and list off what expansion packs you own it will only show downloads that you can get and whatnot.

Re: The Sims 3

I'm seriously thinking about getting this game. I wanted to get Sims 2 expansions but it's really a money making scheme. I'm interested in seeing the seemless transition through the town. I have a desire to get down with some Sims now. I basically bought all the expansions for the first. I just hope that they do add more to the table because they need to.

Re: The Sims 3

I think all of the ones are different. While the Expansions can be annoying, The Sims and The Sims 2 are vastly different.

One main difference is that The Sims one, Sims did not age and their kids didn't either beyond Teenage years. I barely played the Sims original. Only bought one EP and didn't think much of it...

Now the Sims 2 introduced aging and genetics for your sims and other small things like aspirations, little goals your sims wanted to fulfill. I loved the Sims 2, the EPs IMO made the shelf life of this game. I just got bored of the game in November of 2008. So if the Expansions expand the life of the game i'm all for them.

So i'm looking forward to this game, I also just like the setting...get tired of shooting Aliens/ Soldiers/ Zombies whatever have to take a break from FPS games and NBA 2k9 is pretty much the only sports game i'm playing now from last year.
