What is the best way to handle expansion teams in NHL2K?

If I create a new team and want to be able to use it in season, what would be the best way to make the team and players?

Create all players first and put them in free? Then assign them to the created team?
However if I then decide to swap a team for my created team I will have a bunch of doubles. What would be the best practice that I could use to add Vegas?

I need help/suggestions from those that have dealed with this before...

I've come up with 2 ways to handle this, 1 probably hasn't been thought of yet.

1. Replace the worst finishing team of the previous season with your new team, alternatively you can just go up the totem pole with teams that finished poorly.

2. Go through your season normally, simulate a separate season with the expansion team as above. calculate their playoff position based on the current formula and create a separate playoff tournament with seeding based on those calculations.

The 2nd one is interesting because it does not leave out any team in the grand scheme of things with how they finish.

Unless I'm mistaken, I don't think he's asking about a fair way to make the decision of what team to cut, I think he's asking for the actual logistics of how to make a team and its players.

Yes, I was asking for the best way to create a team and preferrably in a way to try to postpone the edit limit bug for as long as possible.

But the other answer was also interesting so thanks.

Re: What is the best way to handle expansion teams in NHL2K?

My conclusion is to create all the players in free transfer or a farm team (I think farm team will be easiest to keep the players in one place).
That way when creating a team I will just select the existing players.

Before I start a new season and want the created team included I will have to trade all players from the team to be replaced with the players from the extra created team to avoid doubles in the season.

Chose the new team for season and go.

What do you think? Any problems with this approach or better ideas?
