Felix Jones

Anyone found the key to using this guy? I'm with the cowboys and he just isnt the back Barber is 2 seasons in. Cant break tackles, doesnt run forward into the holes sometimes running backwards!!
Does he improve or are you just better with power backs than speed?

Re: Felix Jones

use him on pitches and sweeps..one of the keys to success in this game is a balanced attack..the game rewards conservative realistic playcalling and not picking the same plays over and over (not saying you do)..that goes with any player

with that being said, make sure your team hb philosophy is in order with how you are using him..and make sure you call the right plays at the right time to use his shiftiness..don't try to run him in between the tackles until you get his rating up and he shows you success in the other areas more suited to his style of play.

Re: Felix Jones

He made the Pro Bowl as a KR/PR for me, I've got him on the Dolphins as a back-up and 3rd down back for Ronnie Brown, and he's definitely better on outside runs and runs from Shotgun. He's also a decent receiving back.

Re: Felix Jones

My team philosophy at HB is set to "speed" but thinking of changing it to "balanced" season end. This affects Jones pot by -5.
Regarding running him outside on toss/sweep plays ive tried and he gets of there and turns to run back towards the qb. That 99 speed is nowhere to be seen but this could be my offensive line maybe?
How do you guys build your OL do you pay top money for all 5 positions, mine is solid at guard/centre with Andrews 93, Gurode 92, Davis 92 but im still using Free 88 and Martens 88 at tackle but run blocking is poor maybe high 70's

On the whole I spend more money on my O line than anywhere else. When I am scouting rookies for the draft I look at run blocking and pass blocking in addition to the obvious stuff (size, durability, strength...stuff like that) The average salary for my o-line is 4.5 m per year, except for my RT and C who are still under their rookie contracts. The way I look at it is a great 0-line can make a good qb and rb look great...while a bad one can make great backs look bad.

Re: Felix Jones

Maybe I need to invest in some good tackles then to go with the guards

Re: Felix Jones

The O-Line is more important than the back in this game. If you've got a dominant line, you can run all over anyone, no matter who your back is. If not, your back is gonna look like a high schooler.

Re: Felix Jones

i drafted him with the bears, and had the most success using him as a brian westbrook type back...catching lots of passes out of the backfield and a good mix of running inside and outside. success is a term i use loosely though, as it was very limited at best.
