Roster makers: QB AWR rating

Palo has been doing some research and shared his results on the main forum. Basically, his conclusion is that QB's with an AWR rating of less than 81 are completing a very low percentage of their passes. He simmed a few seasons and the data shows this pretty signifcantly. Of the QB's who complete more than 60 percent of their throws, all of them have an AWR rating of 81 or higher.

This is something to keep in mind when re-rating rosters. It seems that THA is not a concern when looking at completion percentage. It's all about AWR.

Hopefully EA looks into this with a patch because it will really mess the sim stats up on incoming QB's.

His thread is on the main forum here if anyone wants to check it out. My plan, for now, is to re-rate a lot of QB's to have higher AWR and less THA. That should balance out their overall rating and keep things in line.

Re: Roster makers: QB AWR rating

Some of that is true but not totally true....

If a lower awareness Qb has skill players around him that are rated really high he'll do very well.

Plus a change in coaching sliders also effects CPU QB performance on the field.

I don't really want to get into a long ratings discussion anymore but I've been balancing QB ratings for the past 4-5 years and it all depends on coaching sliders and talent around the QB.

Heck i can create a QB with 78 Accuarcy and 78 awareness and he'll do just fine because my rosters usually have WR's and Rb's that help to inflate his stats

My Created version of Quincy Carter always has a comp% of about 55% with low accuarcy and awareness no higher than 78 as a Jr QB each year.

Couple things I've noticed:

1. The sim engine changed last year after one of the patches. I don't remember the comp% issues until after a patch. It was working fine before.

2. A couple of the seasons I simmed had both McElroy and McCarron play for Bama and Potts and Sheffield play for Texas Tech. McElroy and Potts were unstoppable while McCarron and Sheffield completed <50%. They all played about half a season. McCarron's tHa is 90 and Sheffield is 95. AWR was the difference.
