NCAA Basketball 10-oholics Anonymous Club

Hi, my name is Kevin, and I am addicted to NCAA Basketball 10.

I just wanted to create a thread for those of us who are actually enjoying this year's game. Now, I will say that college basketball games are my favorite. Its my favorite sport, so naturally its usually the game that is in my gaming console the most. This goes back all the way to Coach K, my first love!

Now, over the recent years, I have been mainly a 2K College Hoops player, however, I have always been one of the few that has always pulled for EA to come out with a decent game. I would always end up giving their game a shot as I always saw potential there (I was probably one of just a few here that enjoyed some of the March Maddness series). But for the most part, I've been all about 2K. Last year being the first year without the 2K college baskeball, I decided to commit to NCAA 09 and I had a blast with it. But this year, I was really missing a lot of the elements (mainly the legacy mode) that CH2K8 gave me. So I went back and re-purchased CH2K8 even though I was enjoying NCAA 10. I am still amazed at some of the stuff CH2K8 has in that game and how incredibly DEEP the legacy mode is. I was all set to return to my legacy and just have this be my college Basketball game of choice for this year. But after playing a game or two of College Hoops, I pop NCAA 10 back in, and I am instantly drawn in by the gameplay and presentation. I have just really grown to like EA's player movement over 2K's. I love the use of the freestyle stick 10x's more than isomotion.

This drives me crazy!!!! How can I be so addicted to a game that has less features, less animations, painfully inaccurate roster ratings, less options, a weaker dynasty mode (which is all I play btw...I don't play online or against anyone)....how can this be? I really don't know the answer, but all I can say is that somehow, someway, this game keeps my interest like no other. It seems that I have caught lightning in a bottle for the 2nd straight year because I have yet to have any freezes (didn't have this problem with freezing in 09 either). But I don't know, this game just keeps pulling me back and its ashame that this may be the last because I feel that the jump that this series made from 2 years ago have been amazing! They were definitely on to something and definitely on the right track with this series!

So, sorry for the long post....but for those of us who actually do enjoy the game, let's just post in here exactly what keeps us coming back to it? What are the things you like about NCAA 10? Got any good game or dynasty stories, post 'em here. I just wanted to create a positive thread for this game. I don't think that this game has enough "little things" to make an 'NCAA 10: the little things thread', but this is more of the "positive things" thread. I know there are issues, but there are other threads for that. If you don't like this game, please stay out! This is a private club ;-)

(yes, I do realize that this may be a very small club lol)

My name is Jake and I too am a NCAA Basketball 10-oholic.
There I said it, I now feel better!

I too tried to get back into 2k8 the other night but after playing this game I just cant play 2k8 anymore and I dont really know why??!! Part of it is playing 2k8 way too much the last 2 years I just didnt want to play it for a 3rd year.
I know everyone LOVES 2K8 but for me this game blows it away. I have to get in 2 or 3 games a day or I just dont feel right! lol

I played a great game last night in my Cincy dynasty. The game went back and forth the whole game.
I was down 1 with 1 minute left and hit a baby hook with Yancy Gates to go up one. UCONN calls a TO and isolates Robinson on the wing, he blows by Stephenson for an easy dunk. I call a time out with 29 seconds left again down one. I set up a play for Vaughn who come of a double screen and hit a 3 with 15 seconds left, 78-76 TO UCONN. They again inbound to Robinson, I double team him and he throws the ball over the head of a guy cutting to the basket. Two Vaughn FT's later and this one is history. Final UC 80 UCONN 76. This game was an absolute BLAST! I was on the edge of my couch the whole game. I am now 1-0 in the Big East.

Btw, my absolute favorite thing in NCAA 10 is definitely the new Motion Offense feature. I love the ease of everything. I coach elementary boys basketball and we run an offense similar to the Flex 3 out offense in this game. It's just pretty neat to be able to run the offense I have my kids run in real life and run them in my virtual coaching career as well. I may even study more of these plays and add it to my real life playbook!I love how it seems very important to run plays to get good shots, which isn't always the case when dealing with basketball video games. Even if you have a super talented player with very good handles, you have to do things to get him open so he can get a 'good' shot off. You can't just 'freestyle' your way to the basket and expect to win.

My name is Glenn and I too am a NCAA Basketball 10-oholic.

I am in crunch time in my St. Johns Dynasty. Just won a HUGE game in the first round of the Big East Tourney against Seton Hall. I am currently 19-10 (10-8) and square on the BUBBLE. Next up is Villanova. #3 in the country and beat me like a rented mule the last go round. I better give a heck of a pre-game speech....

Sounds pretty cool Glenn! It looks like a win against Nova might make your case to join the big dance. Gonna try and do anything different against them this time around? I'd be interested in hearing about your strategy and then seeing if you were able to execute.

Ummm - I'm taking suggestions. Seems like every starter on that team can shoot the 3 and they are just way more athletic than my team. My strategy was to pray real hard and play 4 corners all game..LOL!
