Am I missing something? Is there no commentary for games involving the smaller schools? I played a Colgate-Coastal Carolina matchup in Play Now the other day and had the CBS overlay and everything but no commentary. Same thing happened to me with ESPN overlays in another match-up. I mean, this makes sense in Dynasty mode but in non-dynasty games too?

I did a search on the forum and didn't find anything so I'm wondering if something got messed up in my settings. I remember hearing it in my first game (Georgia Tech vs. Iowa State) but haven't heard it since and the only thing I can figure is that they didn't build it in for small schools.

i spotted this too and couldnt find anything concrete about which teams HAVE it and which teams dont.. ie, which teams/types of teams trigger this.

youll have a A team IDaho facing a lowC prarie view a&M and that game has no commentary. yet a C- vs. D+ matchup does.

I dont want to call it random just yet but its tricky.

maybe it has to do with school pride/prestige?

hawaii vs pepperdine gets your commentary.. two mid major types
Florida atlantic vs yale gets you commentary

weird.

Your game has to be on TV to get commentary

I did like 6 tests in game last week.

same teams in play now.
same teams in DYNASTY MODE
same teams reverse home away in play now.

all had no commentary. each event I tried espn. then cbs... nothing.

some teams/ situations yield no commentary in playnow and dynasty concurrently.

test out idaho and prairie view a&m.

guranteed no commentary in any situation you try.. even cbs/espn

each situation, i paused and saw audio levels were at 16, which is default. nothing there was switched off.. just something in game some where along the lines that messes things up

Yeah for some reason you can't have it in play now I heard, which is just really stupid and lazy. I understand it in dynasty (its realistic, no one would watch those games), but making it like that in play now is just dumb, especially for someone who wants to hear their team announced just once

OK, glad to hear that it's not just me, I guess. So my next question would be: Could this change in Dynasty mode? Let's say I take Prairie View to the top 5 and have a matchup with Idaho, who happened to crawl into the top 25 too...will I get commentary then? If not, where's the reward for something like that?

I agree with Bigdmo, it's realistic to start that way in Dynasty but heck, even NCAA Football has commentary in Play Now for a game between two Sun Belt or MAC teams...

If you are on a winning streak usually they'll put you on, but for a small school you'd have to be doing pretty damn good, and play a great team. Even if you won 10 games in a row, if you are playing a team that hasn't won a game all year, there won't be a broadcast.
