The "feel" of shooting EA's games is definitely lackluster esp for those of us who've played 2K exclusively for the last decade. One of the devs said in the Live forum that the timing of your release has little to do with the result of the shot. Try holding it a little later than usual though, in Live that's how people found the most success, there will be a little hitch if you do it properly.

It seems to me that if you release your shot at the peak, then you will have the most success. That is what has worked for me. You have to get a feel for each player.

I find that interesting because I was leaning towards the release had little effect on the actually result of the shot. I wanted to run a test where I have all horrible releases and see what my percentages are. I have a feeling that the game has a predetermined result based what you're team/player shooting percentages are during the game so far. I felt like they controlled the success rate of shots this way to help defend against insane shooting percentages.

Maybe I'll test that out sometime.

I don't think that is correct, for the most part. I shoot crazy numbers with Wall (57 pts) and also with the point guard from Kansas. I understand they have to make you miss some shots, no matter what, but I don't think it's really pre-determined. I do think a lot of it depends on momentum, the defense, and the score. There is rubber band AI in the game. It's not extremely bad, but it's there.

Prob because for some idiotic reason Wall has 90 for 3PT in the default roster.

I realize that, but it's not predetermined based on shooting percentage. That was my point.

Well if it was a predetermined outcome, I would consider ratings as part of the factors. I just get the feeling that when you release your jumpshot really has no effect on the outcome of the shot.

I could see somthing like..

team shooting 45% and a player like wall shoots a 3 (90 rating) he will make it. If Patterson shot it than he would miss it.

team shooting 70% and it doesn't matter who is shooting they will miss it.

Team shooting 20% and a medium 3pt shooter will make it as to oppose if the team was shooting 70% he would miss it.

I'm not saying that is how it is that's just how I feel when I play since I feel the release timing has little to no effect.
