New Blog is up 10/30/09

EA has released a new blog talking about the motion offense, but still no dynasty info

NCAA Basketball 10: Motion Offense

by Novell | 30-October-2009 1:14 PM
What's up all....I'm going to talk about the Motion Offense feature in NCAA Basketball 2010...College basketball is exciting to watch for a bunch of reasons - guys compete, every game means something and upsets are always a possibility. An experienced team with the right mix of players will definitely have success but what about a school with mediocre talent and do a great job of running their system? We see these teams all the time...Gonzaga, Davidson, 1996 Princeton, just to name a few . Well this is something that we wanted to capture in NCAA Basketball 2010, specifically offensive systems. In terms of systems, we wanted to bring to life a staple in college basketball, motion offense.
There are many teams in college basketball and each one runs some sort of motion offense. We consulted with various NCAA coaches and came to the conclusion that most teams will run one of the following motion offenses: 4 out 1 in, 5 out, Flex, 3 out 2 in, Princeton, Triangle or Dribble Drive. All of these plus two motion offenses will be available to you. Each team in the game has been assigned four motion offenses based on what they run in real life. Upon booting up the game, you'll see Georgetown running the Princeton offense, Kentucky running the dribble drive, Purdue running the 4 out 1 in....Users can customize their playbooks and run whichever motion offense they like. The one thing to keep in mind is your personnel. Don't think that you can run the dribble drive or the 5 out motion offense with any lineup. You need to have 5 players who can penetrate and get to the rim, dish if necessary and knock down shots. If you have two good talented post players, make sure you run the 3 out 2 in motion offense. It'll keep them close to the hoop and maximize their strengths. Understanding these details will make a difference in how affective your system is for you. Definitely keep this in mind when recruiting in your dynasty seasons.
We wanted to make the Motion Offense feature very easy to use. In NCAA Basketball 2010, we introduced the motion movement control. It's basically push-button play calling and results in off-ball movements which are in line with your selected motion offense. The key is to get in the motion offenses' preferred formation. Once there, an overlay/graphic will appear, indicating that you and your teammates are in a position to create motion movement. If the motion movement control is pressed when guys are not in formation, a basic cut to the basket will play out. After pressing the motion movement control, a button will appear over the head of the next recipient in the play. Follow the play to completion or stray away from the play if other opportunities present themselves. Plays last between 5-10 seconds and some plays have multiple options. It's important to see what other options come about when the first option isn't used.
Once you've mastered a motion offense or multiple motion offenses, you'll be able to attack teams and get open looks. Make sure you try out the zone motion offenses as well. These will position guys in the gaps of the zone defense and really open up scoring opportunities. Try it out and let us know what you think. We love hearing your feedback. Until next time.

Last few lines feel like a slap in the face since all a lot of people have been clamoring for dynasty info and it was 19 days since the last blog post. Plus the post revealed nothing new. If they do that again the next blog post we would expect is about when the game hits stores.

I'm excited to see this feature because this is a major part of College Basketball how teams run a specific system. Like Northwestern who slows the tempo way down with a ton of back door cuts. I like what I'm seeing so far the dynasty info will come out some time before the game is released I would bet.
