What do you have to do for a green shot?

An uncontested open shot from the elbow with an 82 mid-range rating. How is there no opportunity for a green light? Am I supposed to have a 90+ before that can happen? It’s painful grinding through modes like Court Battles when you can’t make anything other than a layup/dunk.

What gets me is that threes aren’t like this. I have a lower three point rating and have green opportunities. What’s going on here?

Was that shot considered 'contested' according to the feedback? Just curious.

Were you moving when you took the shot? If your shooting stats are still low, it's pretty much a necessity to stop and plant your feet before taking the shot.

Yea or crossed. Top yellow is still wet anyway. It does get wetter as you get higher so if it blinks you still shot a good shot esp if you have a sizable bar. But you'd think to be in that position you'd have to be off the dribble. I dunno how a small would get a standing j from there.

I hit a top yellow 3 w my Hakeem haha. Dudes pass carried me past the line and I banged it. First ever. Don't worry about top yellows.

I don’t really remember. He never jumped to contest so it better not have.

I had enough of that bs in 2K18.

I'm not sure about other modes, but in franchise if you keep taking smart shots like that they'll become green. I was getting open like that with I Thomas but never got a green. I kept working for good shots and after a few games i couldn't miss. But again, that's in franchise.

Were you moving and at what speed? Was your guy gassed on stamina?

Only asking so it can be addressed or you can improve your knowledge of how to get greens. But a standing still, good short term stamina should be green here.

Not sure who this is directed at but when i use Isaiah (because he's so short) i used screens on the wing and turbo to the baseline.

Yes! You must stop. And if your defender recovers, DON'T TAKE THE SHOT!!! Just pass the ball and try again on another possession. It's like they penalize you over time for taking contested shots and reward you for taking only open shots. Eventually you start getting the benefit of the doubt and they turn green. I don't know if I'm explaining it well.

As far as spot up shooters, same thing. I pick one guy on my team that i only take the shot if wide open. Right now that guy is Chandler Parsons. At first i could only get one or two clean shots A GAME!!! But now thirty games in, the boy doesn't miss!

I've been using this tactic in 2K for years. Just have to be very disciplined.
