Not 100% accurate but close enough to make comparisons.

I hope this delay lets them add some more sig animations as well as the fine tuning and what not.

One request....
Sig post moves, It just feels wrong doing the same turn around shot with Kobe and every other big man.

Big Props to EA not to let out a bad product. But that EA Canada for you. If its not right , they'll get it right. I just wonder was there a Big meeting with Moore saying the boat needs to be righted for all games not just elite, Sales could be better with a better product. seeing this i would be shocked now if madden 12 or ncaa would have RTP

What's disappointing for me is the entire process we've been through with Elite. 2 months ago, 23 and other people came online after previewing the game and gave fair but negative reviews of the version they played. The videos looked bad too. All we heard from EA was "that was an older version of the game" and "wait until u play the demo before you judge it".

So we did. The demo came out and it had numerous glitches and appeared to be a big step back from Live. So what did we hear "The game is great User v. User" and "a patch will fix most problems". A week later the game is delayed for at least 4 mos because its according to Peter Moore "lacks gameplay polish". My question is what version of the game were the EA employees who raved about this game playing?

I've kept my mouth shut for months about this but today's announcement and subsequent thank yous to EA caused me to speak up. What gets me is that you and I know that if the backlash was just a little bit less, EA would have released the game. In my decade of being at EA, I've never seen a major release demo get this much negative attention. There was 1 positive impression for every 20 negative one.

My point is it took a unprecedented backlash to cause them to delay it and based on the way they promoted and hyped the game before and after the demo, I dont trust that EA would have pulled the game if they werent guaranteed to take a huge loss.
great post and totally agree with u. shamed to think they would charge $60 for this crap.

Elite strikes me as a game made by people with limited knowledge of the sport...the game focuses on the most rudimentary parts of the game (dribbling, crossovers, shooting) and ignores the more complex parts of the game (strategy, AI, etc.)...this leads me to believe that there is not a lot of real basketball knowledge coming from Elite's leaders...i have a hard time believing true basketball fans could've produced a game like Elite.

So, maybe one of their first steps should be to get a real basketball person in there to make sure everything is working like real basketball and to flesh out the AI and strategy so it is more authentic.
exactly, the proof is in the pudding. these guys dont know NBA BASKETBALL like that. if they did ELITE would be a much better game and it would be more SIM like. ELITE 11 is not Sim. nothing about it is.

Well, I'm now quoting your post here Da Throne, because my point in asking "Why isn't Littman here to defend his "vision" for a basketball game?" is more in the vein of what you're citing here, something like the decision to not have players actually bending their knees to jump. Maybe I should've asked that instead in my post.

Like you, I prefer the latter. Because if they just don't know basketball, that's an even scarier thought, and we'll NEVER get anything close to an NBA simulation from them. If they know, but are just "turning a blind eye" then that's the lesser of two bad scenarios.

Under NO CIRCUMSTANCES EVER.... EVER..... EVER..... should a player jump literally two to three feet into the air, WITHOUT bending his knees. Doesn't matter what the goal/implementation is, this simply cannot happen. You've got to respect what the human body is capable of.

Literally for days man, for days, I kept asking myself how anyone who loves this sport & wants to recreate it, can think about that and come up with the "design decision" that it's okay in a bball game. That, and another one that is still confusing me, is the decision to remove turbo, again from a basketball game. An NBA game.

You're claiming "Real"-time physics (keyword "real"), while picking and choosing when to actually respect real life physics. Colliding in the paint? Real physics. Jumping in the air on a dime? Not so much. Under this "vision" this will never look like real NBA ball.

And this is why--for the guy who quoted me--I was asking why Littman wasn't here, instead of the devs (who pretty much have to program the game based on what their producer/publisher's final decision is), defending this game all this time.

Great post man. I agree with everything you said. My question is, why are people thanking EA for this move? I've been an EA supporter for over 20 years. Since Peter Moore took over EA, he has been slowly alieniating the offline consumer. EA's main goal for all their products is online gaming because DLC is a cash cow. I feel for the offline consumer because as long as Peter Moore is heading EA they will continue to slowly alieniate the offline gamer. They don't care about the consumer. The devs were trying to sell us a game that wasn't worth $30. Some of their posts were close to calling the consumer "dumb" because we don't see what they are seeing in their product or vision. EA seriously needs to get rid of Peter Moore before the backlash hit their other products, mainly madden.

EA has more good titles than it does bad. I very much doubt we'll see any backlash.

Re: CONFIRMED: NBA Elite 11 Delayed until 2011

Even with a few more months or however much time they're getting, I don't know if this development team really knows what people want out of basketball games. They seemed to think that everyone would enjoy the demo but that didn't happen and they were pretty set on a lot of the things that people here didn't like seeing.

Re: CONFIRMED: NBA Elite 11 Delayed until 2011

I know one thing, the bulleye is squarely on EA back. Especially if they decide against releasing 11. Having 2 years to release a game leaves you Absolutely NO excuses. And if you release a subpar game after so much time of development time, EA Basketball will Not recover from it. Good luck with your goal. With that being said, i just don't see Peter Moore letting a two years go bye without a NBA Live/Elite title.
