I understand that fully....my point is a below avg ballhandler can look the same as a elite ball handler but he'll just lose the ball more if he tries to do dribble moves he's not capable of doing.

But my problem is regardless if he loses the ball or not it's all going to look the same way on the floor. We all know a big man shouldn't look like a PG dribbling the ball. If that Big man doesn't try and make any moves and just dribbles in straight line he's not going to look terrible at all. He's going to look like a legitimate ball handler because it's all the same basic dribble animations.

So lets just completely forget about signature style dribbling and focus on BASIC dribbling without all the crossovers or behind the back stuff. I'll be able to control Brendan Haywood and dribble up the floor in the same manner in which Jason Kidd brings it up the floor. You won't see any different type of ball handling technique between the two. Maybe the speed in which Kidd can get up the floor will be faster but the overall base dribbling between Kidd and a clumsy guy like Haywood won't reflect anything different.

I mean even in practices when i played ball our bigs could barely dribble up the floor in a straight line without messing up. In this game what i'm hearing is anyone can dribble up the floor and look the same as Steve Nash only when they try to make moves is when you'll see a difference but the animation in terms of straight dribbling is the same for all 300+ players.

Im really starting to wonder why they felt the need to scrap everything and focus on control, of all things..its been said a million times about how live 10 was a great foundation and such..not even gonna go on about that..

Same for other animations and differences. I told you this is the seperation in
what you think should be this year.
Yes, the developers bet on the gameplay & fun factor being enough to overlook the generic quality but I haven't seen where they have said that signature style aspect isn't important for individuality and differentiation.

Playmakers, good post for those not understanding the gravity of not having dribble styles.

Point blank period : why should anyone in their right mind pay for PLAIN OLD RICECAKE basketball, all because you can control everything. Like I said a few post ago:

Pong had revolutionary control, broadcast, cam, scoreboard, but if it LOOKS GENERIC, youre not going to have fun playing it for long periods. Sorry in this day and age no frills basketball with little flair isnt going to last long.

when 1st month sales roll around, these suits are going to have a field day. This game might get cancelled like NCAA, which they just released with no patches or anything.. they straight up GANKED they're fanbase. GANKED em.

Yeah man....I think it's time for me to just stick to the football forums because the more stuff i see and read about just upset the hell of me each passing day.

What kind non-sense has this turned into where 300+ players are the same in their animations other than signature shots. One of the things that makes basketball more of individual show is the seperation in styles of play by the players. You have unique players like Nash who will lick his fingers before bringing the rock up the floor occasionally and then you have a guy like Baron Davis who would show boat a little....well atleast before he got locked down in that Clippers system.

The concept behind this is totally wrong.

That's a pretty black & white view, but fair enough & true enough for this year's iteration.
