Net animations

People commented on this in long threads but I wanted to make a seperate thread as its a big issue.

In the demo videos it seems the net has one reaction. It doesn't really "SPLASH" on long three pointers or mid range shots but rather barely moves.

In the competition the net is too splashy and even splashes on layups which is not reflective in real life.

I think before release you guys need to work on having multiple net animations for shots that:

1. hit the rim then go in

2. layup shots

3. long shots

4. 3 point shots of the backboard that get stuck in the net for half a second before falling through

This is something I really never ever notice.

Re: Net animations

It's definitely improved over 09, but I agree it does need a little more variation. I still need to see more footage though.

Yea, same here. Personally I think they're fine. Could they be better? yea of course. Will they be better than last year? Looks like it. Will it be even better next year? Maybe.

I'm just happy they focused more on the core gameplay and controls. The fine tuning and icing on the cake can come next year.

The very first gameplay trailer they released with gameplay, the net "splashed" on the Peitrus 3. Just thought I would let you know.

Re: Net animations

Dont forget...the videos from gamercon are from the Live 10 demo (i think). Demo's dont always have all the features that the retail copy does. I'm not saying the retail version will have more net/rim animations....but it's a possibility. You really have to wait until the game is released or at the very least wait until some final build 5 on 5 videos are released. (Like a video with 2 random teams, not the magic/lakers which are demo vids).

Re: Net animations

I agree with the "lack of net animations"

...I know they have improved them slightly from '09, but the net animations in the competition seem to do more justice. I wish they would have re-vamped them, because seeing the ball go through the net happens numerous times through the course of an entire basketball game.

It just seems to me Live's "net animations" make it seem like the net is "sprayed with starch" (or has the effect of a chain-linked net), yet the competition is too weak and light.

Looks as though the game is shaping up to be an excellent installment this year; nevertheless, the net animations ruin it for me.

You know my old daddy used to always say it. You know he used to say it like this; "Ain't no net too splashy son. Ain't no net too splashy."
