Re: Affordable pc’s?

Does it have to be a laptop? You get much less for much more money with them...

Are we really talking 8 GB of RAM? I am sorry, but this is just straight trash. 8 GB of RAM was the "state of the art" 10 years ago. I would go nowhere less than 16 GB nowadays, I would even recommend 32 GB if the budget allows it.
500 GB SSD? Have fun.... Windows takes up ~100 GB and every modern game takes another 100 GB.

1050 Ti? This worse than the 8 year old graphics card that I had in my old PC. I mean it hopefully can run NBA 2k22 as next gen version, but I wouldn't bet on it. And even if it can, it will likely look really bad then.

You are from the US?

As jk31 said already, the specs which were recommended to you are easily outdated (and overpriced!)

Re: Affordable pc’s?

I would've looked up a recommended spec from a german forum for you. I built my last two PCs after their recommendations and I am/was highly satisfied with them. They have several price ranges and offer recommendations for them. Would've looked at their 750 € and 900 € recommendations. Problem right now: Theres not a real GPU recommendation besides "buy a used one" as everything is so ****ing overpriced right now.

Nonetheless maybe you can do anything with it (prices are in €, don't know what they cost in the US):

750 €:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 3600 (190 €)
Mainboard: MSI B550-A Pro (120 €)
RAM: 16 GB Crucial Ballistix 3200 MHz (80 € - heavy...I paid 110 € for 32 GB a year ago)
PSU: Xilence Performance X 650W (60 €)
SSD: Kingston A2000 NVMe PCIe SSD 500 GB (50 €)
Case: SilentiumPC Signum SG1 (40 €)
GPU: used GTX 970/980/980Ti/RX470/480/570/580 for 100 € - 250 € and upgrade to a new one as soon as GPU prices are affordable (that's their recommendation)
=> 600 € - 790 € depending on the GPU

900 €:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 3600 (190 €)
Mainboard: MSI B550-A Pro (120 €)
RAM: 16 GB Crucial Ballistix 3200 MHz (80 €)
PSU: Xilence Performance X 650W (60 €)
SSD: Kingston A2000 NVMe PCIe SSD 1 TB (100 €)
Case: SilentiumPC Signum SG1 (40 €)
GPU: used Nvidia GTX 1070 or 1070 TI (300 € - 350 €)
=> 890 € - 940 €

You see that both configurations basically only differ in the bought GPU and the size of the SSD. In general the CPU/mainboard/RAM combination is what you should build EVERY PC in the current days after. The correlation of price and performance is just the best with that.

Since we don't yet know whether NBA 2K22 will be released on PC as well, I would wait till we do so that you can see what the system requirements are.
In addition, what he says sounds wonderful. However, I would suggest an AMD Ryzen over an Intel CPU.
I advise purchasing 32 GB of RAM. Nowadays, it's reasonably priced, and certain games will already "use" up to 16 GB of RAM if given the chance.
GPU: In all honesty, I wouldn't buy any right now. Due to a confluence of production bottlenecks and cryptomining, they are simply too expensive.
