Game crashing and monitor too since patch?

Game was loading great last night. Tonight when I tried to load got message checking server for update. Game then crashes and my monitor goes blank. Have to reboot system. I am not having the monitor or game crash issue with anything else. And, as I said, game was loading fine I assume pre-patch. Anyone having this issue today?

Also if you know work around until it gets fixed please let me know as I cannot now launch the game.
