Random Association Challenge

I came up with this earlier today and I've been having a lot of fun with it so far, so I thought I'd share it with you all.

This challenge involves you controlling a team of completely randomized players. Your goal is to win a championship. Once you win a championship, the challenge part is over, but you may go on with the Association as long as you wish.

Here's how to form your team:

Paste this into a list randomizer:

If you're wondering why it's all messed up, it's because I copied it directly from the Reditor.

Here's a good list randomizer: https://www.random.org/lists/

The first fifteen players is your roster.

My roster turned out to be:

Second, you need a city to play in, obviously.

Generate a random city here: http://www.randomlists.com/random-us-cities

Now, the name of your team depends on the city. Make the team name the same as the city's:

- NBA Team
- Defunct Team
- D-League Team
- ABA Team
- Other Leagues

If all of the above fail to make a good name, then just make up a team name! Or look up the city's local teams and name it after one of those. The team colors should be the same.

I ended up with Reno. Reno has a D-League team, the Reno Bighorns. So, my Association team will be the Reno bighorns with the above randomized roster.

That's all there is to it, basically. If you're removing a team from the league, but want to keep that team's players, just take your new CAT into Season mode with cloned players you don't need, quit, and go to work editing the roster. The clones should be on the team you're removing from the league, and that team's players should be in free agency.

Re: Random Association Challenge

My team turned out to be (I ordered them into a rotation):

NEW YORK KNICKS (I got NYC, but as a Knicks fan, no way I'm choosing Nets )
PG - Steph Curry
SG - Kent Bazemore
SF - Gerald Wallace
PF - Ryan Anderson
C - Robin Lopez
6th - Jason Terry
RP - Hedo Turkoglu
RP(Prospect if possible) - Chase Budinger
Prospect - Eric Murphy
RP/Prospect - Hasheem Thabeet
RP/P - Tyhsawn Taylor
BW - Steve Novak

It actually is a decent team, with Steph Curry and Ryan Anderson being the main scorers. It gives a lot of opportunity for the younger players to have a break out season, like Bazemore and Taylor. Tt's not a real title contender though.

And it might be possible to make this team from a fantasy draft, so I'll try that out first.

Re: Random Association Challenge

San Francisco Warriors (the old school colorway)
(this team is stacked)

1. Goran Dragic
2. John Wall
3. Kevin Durant
4. Kevin Love
5. Nikola Vucevic
6th. Carlos Boozer
Prospect. Giannis Antetokounmpo
Prospect. Kyle Singler
Role. Udonis Haslem
Role. Chris Copeland
Role. Belinelli Marco
Role. Prigioni Pablo
Role. Jared Dudley
Role. Chris Kaman
Bench. Daniel Orton

Way too many role players to keep everyone happy. But i feel this team has what it takes to win it all in the first season.

Definitely.. good lord man, that's an All-Star lineup.

To be honest, it'd make more sense to have Wall at PG and Dragic at SG. Are you gonna do that?

My team is scrub central after the first 6 players:

PG: Kyle Lowry
SG: Courtney Lee
SF: Manu Ginobili
PF: Chris Bosh
C: Omer Asik
6th Man: Gerald Green

Backup PG: Maalik Wayns
Backup SG: Gerald Wallace
Backup SF: Chris Copeland
Backup PF: Tyler Hansbrough
Backup C: Matt Bonner

Prospect: Otto Porter
Prospect: Fab Melo

Bench: Trevor Booker
Bench: Ryan Hollins
Bench: Jeremy Evans

It's possible this team can lead the league in 3PT %. Lots of good shooters there; Novak, Curry, Anderson, etc. Pretty awesome. You may or may not sneak into the playoffs in your first year.

Re: Random Association Challenge

Using the randomizer, I got the city of Toledo and used the defunct NBA team name the Toledo Jeeps. My rotation is:

PG- Eric Maynor (67)
SG- Monta Ellis(84)
SF- Danny Green (74)
PF- Taj Gibson (79)
C- Chris Bosh (81)
6- Andray Blatche (74)
7- Amir Johnson (71)
8- Ian Mahinmi (69)
9- Ekpe Udoh (67)
10- Mike Scott (65)
11- Austin Rivers (66)
12- Steven Adams (64)
RES- Brendan Haywood (64)
RES-Jeremy Evans (60)
RES- Quincy Miller (60)

Think you can definitely say I had the biggest team in the league lol. Simmed the season just to see how things would go and we finished 35-47, one spot out of the playoffs surprisingly.

Team Stats:

Monta Ellis: 22.2 ppg, 4.1 rpg, 4.1 apg, 1.6 spg, 45 fg%, 34 3pt%
Chris Bosh: 17.7 ppg, 7.0 rpg, 1.5 apg, 1.2 bpg, 49 fg%, 35 3pt%
Danny Green: 13 ppg, 5.2 rpg, 1.7 apg, 1.1 spg, 1.1 bpg, 39 fg%, 39 3pt%
Taj Gibson: 12.8 ppg, 7.5 rpg, 1.7 apg, 1.4 bpg, 53 fg%
Eric Maynor: 12.4 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 8.7 apg, 43 fg%, 36 3pt%

Oddly enough, we were actually ranked 19th in rebounding. For a team with an average height of 6'8, I was pretty confused but we did rank 2nd in blocks per game

Re: Random Association Challenge

Team: the Buffalo Braves (defunct NBA team)

Roster:

David West
Anthony Morrow
Joel Anthony
Ray Allen
Jarvis Varnado
Luis Scola
Kyle Lowry
Charle Villanueva
JJ Redick
Mario Chalmers
Ed Davis
Greivis Vasquez
Andre Drummond
Brandon Knight
Carl Landry

I like my team. Perimeter scoring via Allen, Knight, Lowry, Chalmers, Vasquez and Redick. Drummond is good in 2K. West will be more than servicable, but he's old.
